Nuggets head coach George Karl and his life partner, Kim Van Deraa, are hosting an amazing event in Milwaukee on June 28th as part of their College for Kids fundraiser. Leading up to the event is an online auction and participants can win incredible prizes like a trip with the Nuggets (on the team plane!), golf with Coach Karl and more. And you don’t have to be in Milwaukee to win!

One of George Karl's (many) charitable causes is College for Kids, a program run through the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee that provides continuing education to more than 2,000 kids annually who otherwise couldn't afford it. UW-Milwaukee and the organization will be honoring Coach Karl and his life partner Kim Van Deraa at a College for Kids fundraiser on Tuesday, June 28th for their generous support throughout the years. The cost of the event will be $125 a ticket and the guest list will be limited to 200 people so it will be a small gathering. All money raised will go towards scholarships for children to attend their program who otherwise would not be able to attend based on financial reasons.

The event will also feature an "on-line" auction which I think many of our fellow Stiffs will be very interested in. The auction will be live starting June 1 and will run through June 30. Here are a couple items they are offering:

The Ultimate NBA Experience
Board the Denver Nuggets private plane as you travel with coach George Karl and the team to an away game. You and three guests of your choice will experience the life of an NBA player. Attend a home game in Denver (4 tickets, special passes, and meet and greet with players is included). After the game ends you will then travel to Denver International Airport (DIA) with George Karl, where you and your guests will board the team plane, travel to an away game site and stay at the team hotel. (You will pick the games you want to see based on the 2011-12 schedule). Travel back to DIA where your normal life begins again.

Golf with Denver Nuggets Coach, George Karl & Mystery Guest
Golf with George Karl and a mystery guest at your choice of two cities: Milwaukee or Denver. If you choose Milwaukee, then the course will be similar to Whistling Straits and the mystery guest could be well-known names like Rick Majerus or Michael Redd. If you choose Denver, you will golf at Cherry Creek Country Club and the mystery guest could be an assistant coach, a former or current player. Or you could choose to have three of your own guest’s golf with George instead – it’s all your choice! Mystery guest and course are determined by schedules available when date is determined.

Motivational Speech from Denver Nuggets Coach, George Karl
Do you and your team need a little pep talk? George Karl will get you on the right track during a one-hour speech about team building, basketball, overcoming obstacles or whatever you think your group needs. George is a highly sought after speaker who loves what he does, and makes it impossible not to connect to his energy and positive attitude. (Location should be within 30 miles of downtown Milwaukee or Denver)

Qdoba Backyard Blast with Denver Nuggets Coach, George Karl
Host George Karl and 20 of your closest friends and family for a backyard Qdoba Taco Fiesta. You will need to provide drinks. George will be available for the afternoon for conversation, photos and fun. Location should be within 30 miles of downtown Milwaukee or Denver.

Personal Workout session with Denver Nuggets Assistant Coach/Strength and Conditioning, Steve Hess
Join Steve Hess at the Pepsi Center for your one hour workout session. Be prepared to sweat it out, and leave it on the floor as you get acquainted with a workout designed for the professionals. You will also be provided with Under Armour attire to keep you cool when things get hot!

Autographed basketball shoes – Nene – Denver Nuggets Center

As you can see, these are great prizes and it's a great cause. If some of you Stiffs want to combine forces and share the bidding on some of these items, I'd strongly encourage it.
