Summer tiiiime, where the basketball’s sloppy. With Marlowe on the mic on Altitude TV. All the ballers in the tourney will agree. That they’re well qualified to represent the Summer League. Me, Gordon and Reid we gonna run the party. And write about mediocre basketball, it gets harder.

The thing to watch for: Daron Holmes II
As if there is anything else. Frankly, let’s just start with Holmes getting through the game, that’s step one. Otherwise, I’m excited to get our second look at a guy who can potentially be a long term answer as a big off the bench for Denver. Holmes’ spot in the rotation is anything but guaranteed and Jonas Valanciunas drama aside, the Nuggets appear to want a veteran big off the bench to if nothing else compete with Daron for that rotation spot. I think Holmes is on the outside looking in on the rotation so a strong Summer League performance can help h im. Remains to be seen just how much he’ll play out in Vegas but I expect he’s a go tonight and will get one, maybe two, more games before Denver shuts him down.
The thing to remember: Summer League is bush league, psyche-out stuff.
If I told you two players with the name Anthony balled out and once scored 40+ in an SL game you’d proabably think that Melo and Ant Man showed out from the jump. You’d be mistaken though, the two playters I’m referring to are Anthony Morrow and Anthony Randolph. They are part of elite company with fellow SL studs like Furkan Korkmaz and…checks notes…Von Wafer. Did you know Nikoloz Tskitishvili actually was the first ever SL MVP back in 2004? If you’re not picking up what I’m throwing down it’s this: IF Hunter Tyson drops 40 tonight don’t read too much into it. Summer League is more about just getting some run for the young guys than anything else.
The thing to bet: The under on days it will take before you call gambler’s anonymous
It’s Summer League people, if you think you have any idea how to bet any of this you’re fooling yourself. It’s a complete crap shoot. The Nuggets are 4.5 point dogs tonight because sure, why not, and the over is 174.5 (SL games are 10 minute quarters). So go off if you’re a true gambler, but I’m leaving my money in my pocket on this one.
