Paul Millsap sat down with Nuggets.com writer, Christopher Dempsey and shared a few really interesting quotes. The interview took place inside the Nuggets locker room and was posted to the team’s YouTube account this afternoon.

Like Millsap, Dempsey grew up in the Montbello neighborhood of Denver so it was really cool to hear the two reminisce. Even more cool was hearing Millsap talk about how great the Nuggets did in their pitch to him in Atlanta.

“I’ve had meetings with teams before. This one was probably the best by far that I’ve had. Wasn’t about trying to sell the team or anything, it was more about comfort level. Getting to know those guys and them getting to know me, that was the biggest selling point that they could have.”

“I knew right after dinner. I didn’t tell anybody. The next day I told my agent, ‘you know let’s go ahead and do it.”

Millsap also had an incredible quote about how he views the upside of this young Nuggets roster. Millsap played for a great team in Atlanta in 2014-15 that won 60 games and made it to the Eastern Conference finals. He was asked to compare that team to what he sees in Denver and he had this to say:

“Especially with the younger guys that we have now in Denver, the growth is unbelievable. The sky is the limit. I think this team can be a lot better than that team. That was a 60 win team, so you know. I’m coming in this thing with high hopes, knowing and understanding what the situation is and knowing that we can be that team.”
