According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Denver Nuggets and Detroit Pistons set to tip-off tonight at 7:00pm MT has been postponed.

As someone attending the game tonight and writing this from Ball Arena, it was unclear what the situation was leading up to tip-off. Later, Shams revealed that an inconclusive test caused the postponement.

Because the contact tracing occurred on Detroit’s side, it’s unclear how much this incident impacts Denver in the long run. During pregame warmups, former Nuggets Jerami Grant, Mason Plumlee, and Pistons assistant coach Micah Nori all spent significant time with Nuggets players catching up and chatting before the game. It’s unclear who had the inconclusive test on Detroit’s side though, and if it wasn’t any of the former Denver players/coaches, then the Nuggets are probably fine.

Still, this is cause for concern. Tonight is the first game the Nuggets have had postponed due to contract tracing. The Nuggets have been relatively lucky to avoid incidents like these thus far, but the luck has finally run out somewhat.

We will wait and see what the ramifications are. Keep it tuned to Denver Stiffs for further updates.
