Nikola Jokic named Western Conference Player of the Week

The NBA announced on Monday that Denver Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic was named Western Conference Player of the Week for week five.

Joel Embiid — who is Jokic’s greatest competition in the MVP race at the moment — took home the award for the Eastern Conference.

Jokic helped lead the Nuggets to a 3-0 record last week, including two thrilling road victories over the Phoenix Suns. In three games, Jokic averaged 29 points, 14.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. It’s the first time Jokic has brought home the award this season and the seventh time in his career.
