According to Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post, Denver Nuggets back up point guard Jameer Nelson has suffered a setback with his wrist injury and is unlikely to play tonight against the Toronto Raptors. Dempsey did not state what the timetable will be for Nelson’s return.

Initially feared to be a fracture, Nelson was given good news when an MRI revealed that the injury was just a sprain. He had returned to the Nuggets lineup for the previous two games against the Indiana Pacers and the Washington Wizards. While his season has been up and down, Nelson has been a vital cog to Denver’s bench as the point guard. Without him the Nuggets will rely on Randy Foye, traditionally a shooting guard, to run the back up offense. For reference, Foye has a 16% assist rate compared to Nelson’s 28.4% suggesting their teammates are about 43% less likely to be set up for a bucket from Foye as they would from Nelson.
