With the 15th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft the Atlanta Hawks select Sam Dekker, Forward, Wisconsin.

George Karl Marx:

I am not thrilled with Sam Dekker. I don’t think he’ll make it as anything other than a suitable role player, but I think he provides a good insurance policy against DeMarre Carroll leaving and I trust head coach Mike Budenholzer enough to get a lot out of him without needing to make him a centerpiece (a la him and Frank Kaminsky). I’m concerned about his ‘tournament’ stats, which are almost always small sample size and misleading.

I was really close to going with Kevon Looney here, who I feel has more upside over Bobby Portis, but ultimately I think it's easier to get rebounding in the NBA than a decent two way shooting guard. It's a thin position in today's NBA.

Sam Dekker has proven that he can light it up on any given night. Combine that with some of his physical tools and you've got yourself a very nice addition on the next level. He won't wow you with his defense, but he will work hard to make the right basketball plays.

*Upon hearing this news DeMarre Carrol decided to redo his hairstyle to the flock of seagulls*
