There are so many reasons to be excited about the upcoming NBA season – the continued emergence of Nikola Jokic, the breakout of Jamal Murray, buckets from Gary Harris and the stoic excellence of Paul Millsap. I could go on and on but you get the idea.

One of the things we are hoping that the Denver Stiffs community is excited about for the upcoming season is the first ever (that I can recall) Denver Stiffs fantasy basketball league. We would like to extend invitations to the Denver Stiffs community to participate, and we’ll share updates on the league throughout the season.

“This sounds awesome! About time! How can I sign up?” A great question, and here’s your answer.

Interested parties may submit an application, and Denver Stiffs staff members will fill out the league from those submissions. Answer a few questions, be honest, and be passionate about the Nuggets. If you’re not selected, know that we’re planning on doing this again next year, and we will open up applications again in the future.

Are you curious about the league details? As of now, it’s a 12-team head-to-head daily league (I can increase size if there is a high volume of interested parties). I’ve added some categories beyond the traditional fantasy basketball scoring, and this will be a 13-category scoring league. The categories are: field goal percentage, free throw percentage, 3-point shots made, 3-point percentage, points scored, total rebounds, assists, steals, blocked shots, turnovers, personal fouls, double-doubles, and triple-doubles (Nikola Jokic is the Nuggets franchise player so I had to include triple-doubles).

I understand that Denver Stiffs is an international community, with fans across the globe. As such, I’m not going to be able to be flexible with the draft date. It’s a live draft, scheduled for Monday, October 16 at 10:00 PM ET. The league is hosted on Yahoo Sports, so you’ll need an account with them (it’s free) in order to play.

The goal is to have fun, and to have another outlet to enjoy this great sport that unites so many different people from across the globe. Let’s make it a wonderful experience for everyone involved, whether you finish first or last.
