Altitude’s Chris Dempsey is reporting that the Denver Nuggets will sign point guard Brandon Goodwin to a two-way contract. The Nuggets roster is currently full, but according to Dempsey the team is expected to release DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell to make room.

Akoon-Purcell has already spent significant time with the Nuggets this season due to the crowded injury report, and he’s quickly approaching the 45-day limit for a player on a two-way contract.

This is the second time that the Nuggets have signed the 23-year-old guard in less than a month. Goodwin, who is currently playing for the G-League’s Memphis Hustle, was acquired on November 29th using an injury exception from the league, but was released shortly after when the team signed Nick Young.

Like Akoon-Purcell, Goodwin isn’t expected to receive much playing time, but he’s a healthy body and he provides some relief for a team that’s suffered the worst injury luck in the league thus far.

In 10 games with the Hustle, Goodwin has averaged 23.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.4 assists while shooting 51 percent from the floor.

The Nuggets have yet to make an official announcement on either move.
