According to an article on upsidemotor.com that was published today, the Denver Nuggets can have an affiliation with an NBA D-League team in the near future if they want one. That is, as long as they are okay with the team being in a different state, they have a viable option in Omaha.

The article quotes Gary Green, owner of the minor league team for the Kansas City Royals, after he spoke to omaha.com about the subject of bringing an NBA D-League team to their city.

Green mentions that after discussing it with the NBA and the D-League, one thing is for sure: they "absolutely want to have a team in Omaha." Green goes on to say that the reason they have had trouble getting an NBA affiliate so far is because teams prefer their D-league affiliates close by, rather than farther away in a different state.

Green is quoted as saying, "We have to reach for Minnesota, Denver and places further away." If Denver is willing, it sounds like it will be very much considered.

As of the start of the 2015-16 NBA season, only 11 teams are without their own affiliate, including the Denver Nuggets.
