It’s finally here!
Denver Nuggets media day kicks off today at 11:00 MT and with it begins the 2017-18 Denver Nuggets season. And what a season it will be. This year feels very much like a changing of the guard for the Denver Nuggets. Out is Danilo Gallinari, the face of the post-Carmelo era Denver Nuggets. Nikola Jokic, one of the most exciting and unique players in recent NBA history, steps front and center into the spotlight. Last season, when Jokic was on the court the Nuggets weren’t just good, they were incredible. This season, the entire roster is built around the young Serbian. He’ll be tasked with carrying the team out of phase one of the rebuild and (hopefully) into the playoffs for the first time in 5 seasons.
Helping him along the way will be Paul Millsap, the four-time NBA all-star for the Atlanta Hawks who joined the Nuggets in free agency and brings high expectations for what this team can accomplish. Jamal Murray, the second-year sharpshooter from the University of Kentucky via Kitchener, Ontario will also take on a large role for this team. Gary Harris had a break-out year in his third season with the Nuggets, shooting over 40% from behind the arc. Lastly there’s Wilson Chandler, the last standing piece of the Carmelo Anthony trade and the most versatile player on the roster.
This season the Nuggets will also be celebrating 50 years of basketball in the Mile High City. It’ll be a year that is rumored to feature the return of many of the city’s past greats including Alex English, Dan Issel, Fat Lever, and many more. Everything about this season feels special. There hasn’t been this much buzz about the Nuggets since 2013, when the team set a franchise record by winning 57 regular-season games.
It all starts tomorrow and the Stiffs will be bringing you behind the scenes access to Pepsi Center where we’ll be talking with the players, coaches, and front office. You’ll want to check back frequently as we’ll be updating this stream throughout the day with exclusive videos, interview audio, and much more.
