Nikola Jokic did everything he could Saturday night at Ball Arena to help the Denver Nuggets try and secure a Game 1 victory, but in the end it just wasn't enough. Behind the hot shooting of Damian Lillard and pretty much the entire Trail Blazers roster the Nuggets suffered a tough 123-109 defeat and now trail the series 1-0.

Still, it was another big night for Jokic who scored 34 points on 14-of-27 shooting from the field, 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. Jokic also hauled in 16 rebounds as he was a monster on the glass all game long.

The only disappointing stat from Jokic’s stat line was just one assist as Portland did a phenomenal job turning him into a scorer and not a passer. We’ll see if that trend continues in Game 2 as even though he didn't kill the Trail Blazers with his passing, he certainly did with his scoring.
