Just not enough help for the Nuggets superstar big man tonight.

Nikola Jokic was a man on a mission Thursday night at Ball Arena, it just so happened that Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks were also on a mission. Jokic scored 38 points — which is coincidently the same total Doncic scored — in the Nuggets 124-117 overtime loss to the Mavericks.

Jokic scored his 38 points on 14-of-31 shooting from the field, 4-of-10 from beyond the three-point line to go along with 11 rebounds and four assists. Two of Jokic’s 38 points came on the final shot of regulation as he made an unreal jumper to force the game into overtime.

After starting the game just 2-of-11 from the field, Jokic proceeded to score 28 of his 38 points in the second half and overtime. Another big time performance from Jokic, who has put together an MVP type of season through the Nuggets first eight games.
