According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Denver Nuggets big man Mason Plumlee will be changing uniform numbers from 24 to seven in honor of Kobe Bryant.

This comes after the devastating news on Sunday that Bryant and eight others were involved in a helicopter crash. A number of NBA players have since changed jersey numbers to honor his legacy. It all started when the Dallas Mavericks officially retired the number 24 forever, and players around the league have followed suit.

Plumlee will now rock the number 7 whenever he returns to injury as he has missed the Nuggets’ last four games with a right foot injury. The original timeline provided for Plumlee’s injury was two weeks to a month, and we are just one week into that recovery.

Many players around the league are also switching numbers if they wear the number 8, which is what Jarred Vanderbilt is currently using for the Nuggets. There is no word yet as to whether or not Vanderbilt will change his number, but we will keep you updated whenever that decision does come down.
