USA Basketball announced today the six new additions to the United States’ training camp roster for the 2019 World Cup, and Paul Millsap of the Denver Nuggets was among them. The camp is set to run from August 5 to August 8.

The official 12-man roster will be announced on August 12, and the competition itself will take place between August 31 and September 15, with games being played in eight different cities throughout China.

The United States will compete in group E, where they will fight to advance from a group featuring the Czech Republic, Japan, and Turkey.

Millsap played for team USA twice before in his career, but never in a World Cup or Olympic game. Should he make the roster, he’ll join Nikola Jokic as the second player from Denver to suit up for a national team this summer, with Juancho Hernangomez and Jamal Murray as potential candidates to play for Spain and Canada respectively.

Millsap averaged 12.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and two assists per game in his 13th NBA season while helping the Nuggets jump from the bottom third to the top third of the league in defensive efficiency. There’s a pending team option on the third year of Millsap’s contract, a decision which should sit atop President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly’s priority list this summer.
