Worth noting: the Denver Nuggets are among the teams to recently express interest in Knicks big man Noah Vonleh, per sources. Vonleh who will be a free agent this summer.— Ian Begley (@IanBegley) February 7, 2019
Vonleh is well-traveled in his young career already, having played for four teams in his four+ pro seasons, but it’s not because he can’t play. Vonleh is a capable defender and good defensive rebounder who still has some scoring potential, shooting better both from the charity stripe and beyond the arc this year. With Paul Millsap’s injury status and Denver’s struggles to get minutes out of a power forward behind him capable of playing much defense, there might be an opportunity for Denver to swap one of its more offensively-oriented players for Vonleh.
Trey Lyles also has his contract up at the end of the year, but he will be a restricted free agent while Vonleh is an unrestricted one, and it’s possible New York might prefer a player they can match salaries on. That contract swap works for a trade and it would be an interesting swap to help shore up a weakness for Denver if it were to occur. Stay tuned.
