Clip: Jamal Murray getting under Westbrook’s skin in Denver win

Murray’s just checking off his Christmas list of people to piss off - and beat

NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder at Denver Nuggets Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Jamal Murray doesn’t really care if you like him. Get as upset as you want - he just wants the win and he got it tonight as Denver took the victory with a great effort down the stretch against the Oklahoma City Thunder and Russell Westbrook. Murray poured in 19 points, snagged 9 rebounds, and helped Denver fight down the finish to a short-handed win.

And Westbrook definitely didn’t like it. In the final minute of the game, while jostling for early position on a jump ball, Westbrook had enough and shoved Murray to draw a double technical.

There’s just something about Murray that gets under the skin of his opponents. He’s bothered the Lakers, had Kyrie Irving chuck a ball into the stands against him, and now tonight got involved a one-sided shoving match with Russell Westbrook. The best part about this? Jamal got the tip, was fouled for a clear path violation, made his free throws and walked off the court a victor as Billy Donovan pulled his guys to avoid any more late game issues.

Michael Malone was one of the first ones to get to Jamal Murray on the court after everyone was separated and started talking to him immediately. Not berating - it was more of an explanation and exhortation from coach to player that finished with a hand slap and Murray taking care of business.

So enjoy this win, and the fact that no matter where he goes Murray seems to make enemies while Denver just keeps winning. If being the villain comes with success, then I’m pretty sure Nuggets fans will have zero problems with that. To quote Gladiator: are you not entertained?
