Denver Nuggets Tweet of the Week: Jameer Nelson pens a 'thank you' note to Denver

A former Nugget bids Denver farewell

I know this weekly column is titled "Denver Nuggets Tweet of the Week," but this week that title goes to a former Nugget. When you see what it is though, you may forgive me.

This week, the Denver Nuggets waived point guard Jameer Nelson in order to make way for the signing of Richard Jefferson. In doing so, the team lost a savvy, veteran player that had provided the team with leadership and wisdom. He will be missed by many, I'm sure, as he was a key reason why the culture from the Brian Shaw era Nuggets improved to what it is today.

On Thursday night, Nelson shared a note on Twitter in which he thanks the city of Denver, the front office, coaches, and teammates who helped make his experience in Denver a memorable one.

Regardless of whether you liked Nelson on the court or not, this is sure to bring a few sad feelings to every Nuggets fan. It's hard to deny that he brought many positive contributions to the team, and many nights he was even the team's best option at point guard. It's also a class act on his part to show such appreciation considering that he was waived right before the start of the season.

We'll miss you, Jameer. Thanks for your time in the Mile High.
