The 2016 NBA Draft Lottery is in the books, and the Denver Nuggets haven’t managed to rise up the draft order; they remain selecting at the 7th overall pick. This isn’t the first time in recent years that the Nuggets have selected with the 7th overall pick, last year General Manager Tim Connelly selected ‘international’ point guard Emmanuel Mudiay.

With the seventh pick the Nuggets find themselves in a position which has a pretty good history. Defending NBA Champion and MVP Stephen Curry was selected with the 7th pick of the 2009 Draft, his Warriors teammate Harrison Barnes was selected in the same spot of the 2012 draft. As already stated the Nuggets found themselves in this situation last year, they managed to snag the guy they wanted all along anyway.

The results for the lottery are as follows:

14. Chicago Bulls

13. Phoenix Suns

12. Utah Jazz

11. Orlando Magic

10. Milwaukee Bucks

9. Toronto Raptors

8. Sacramento Kings

7. Denver Nuggets

6. New Orleans Pelicans

5. Minnesota Timberwolves

4. Phoenix Suns

3. Boston Celtics

2. Los Angeles Lakers

1. Philadelphia 76ers

Now that we know exactly where the Nuggets are selecting we can start debating which players are realistic targets for them. The anxiety of the unknown is over, now the real work begins for all those in the Nuggets front office, they'll start bringing in prospects for interviews and workouts over the coming weeks. Tim Connelly and co are all probably very familiar with which prospects are going to be available for Nuggets, but we could see some moves leading up to/on draft night. You never know.

The Nuggets have many options available to them at 7. They could address their need for a scorer in the backcourt with Buddy Hield or Furkan Korkmaz, they could add another big to their rotation with Domantas Sabonis or Skal Labissiere. They could even add another point guard if Kris Dunn or Jamal Murray are available. Draft Express currently has the Nuggets selecting Buddy Hield.

Whoever the Nuggets select at 7 they should be ready to compete for minutes and contribute to this team. The Draft cannot come quick enough for Nuggets Nation as we prepare to see what the first moves of the offseason will be and how they'll shape the 2016/17 Denver Nuggets.
