Reminder: Stiffs Night Out THIS Wednesday!

New, comments

Don't forget to ring in the new Nuggets and NBA season alongside your fellow Stiffs THIS Wednesday at 6pm. And we have some exciting news as well ...

Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

We have some exciting news for this Wednesday's Stiffs Night Out as we gather to kickoff the Denver Nuggets 2015-16 season! As we've done with Stiffs Night Outs in the past, we will be giving away Nuggets prizes and all who attend are eligible to win (although we recommend making a suggested donation to a new neighborhood Grassroots Basketball program, details below). Prizes include a Danilo Gallinari-autographed basketball and two pairs of game tickets.

And we'll be giving away Denver Stiffs T-shirts to the first 30 people who show up!

As always, SNO will be hosted at the RiNo/Cole neighborhood's Jake's Sports & Spirits (located at 3800 Walnut Street), which has been newly remodeled. The festivities begin when the Nuggets tip off in Houston against the Rockets at 6pm MT and Jake's will be serving 50-cent wings all night long and happy hour drinks for the first hour.

And as part of our Nuggets prize giveaway, we're going to be supporting a new local non-profit named Grassroots which is developing an after-school basketball program at the nearby Denver Schools of Science and Technology (DSST) Cole High School (DSST Cole).

Presently, DSST Cole offers a boys and girls basketball program which is intended to provide an athletic enrichment opportunity for our current 9th graders and incoming 10th graders this fall. Unfortunately, like many charter schools DSST Cole has an extremely limited budget to provide after school sports programs that extend beyond the span of the normal season, even though the students, parents and school officials are desirous of sports programs.

As of March 2016, this pressing need for after school basketball will be taken head-on by DSST and Ferron Morgan, the resident Dean of Curriculum and Instruction (DCI) and a former Division I player with extensive playing experience and youth skill development expertise. Ferron will be on hand for SNO and we are asking for a suggested donation of $10 to help Ferron's after school basketball program get off the ground.

We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday night as we celebrate the beginning of another Nuggets season!
