Quick Recap: Denver Nuggets Drop First Road Game to Oklahoma City Thunder

New, comments

The Nuggets dug themselves into a hole they could just not dig themselves out of.

Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

First Quarter:

The Nuggets knew the Thunder were going to come out full of energy to start the game and it was a matter of how they responded.  Unfortunately... The Nuggets were extremely flat.  They were taking jump shots and had no ball movement on offense.  On defense they were playing under screens which led to easy jumpers by both Serge Ibaka and Sebastian Telfair, while Steven Adams banged away inside.

The Nuggets looked extremely disinterested to start the game.

Second Quarter:

It appeared that things were going to get going a bit better here with a couple of big, high-energy blocks by JaVale McGee, but OKC pushed the lead out to 21 and for some reason Shaw put Gallo on Perkins who scored eight straight points for the Thunder in the middle of the quarter.

Third Quarter:

The Nuggets had a bit more energy this quarter, they attacked and appeared they had a game plan of getting Perry Jones and Roberson in foul trouble, then just stopped that plan.  But hey, they cut the lead to less than 20 points... for a bit.

Fourth Quarter:

It was too little, too late for the Nuggets.  They cut a 25 point lead down to three points twice, but couldn't get it any closer than that.  The cold shooting early and lackluster defense was just too much to overcome for the Nuggets in this one.  Huge quarter from Ty Lawson though.
