In an interview with Dave Logan and Dave Krieger on 850 KOA yesterday Masai Ujiri covered a range of subjects, including where the negotiations with JaVale McGee stand, the “body” development of Evan Fournier and the roster make up heading in to next season.

As we suspected after the draft, the roster (according to Ujiri) will look much the same as it did at the end of last season with the bench additions of Wilson Chandler and Fournier, and presumably Quincy Miller. What Ujiri did not address was how the Nuggets anticipate solving their roster slot issue (14 of 15 slots occupied already with Fours signing with McGee and Miller still yet to be signed) and whether the status of Chris Andersen play in to their decision making. The Nuggets have until September 6th to sign Quincy Miller, so we will see how this shakes out.

Today is the Nuggets’ first Summer League game in Las Vegas against the Golden State Warriros. Our man with the plan Nate Timmons is in Vegas and will be watching these games to see how the young players look. Kenneth Faried, Jordan Hamilton, Quincy Miller and Evan Fournier will all be there. Additionally the Izzet Turkeyilmaz will be there, presumably to show off the keys to getting such a slim physique to the denizens in Las Vegas.

One last note, early in the afternoon Denver Post Nuggets beat writer Chris Dempsey tweeted this gem:

This leads one to suspect you can add Ty Lawson’s name to the growing list of extended contracts in Denver.

Stay tuned…
