Lakers vs. Nuggets: Beat L.A. ... again! (8:30pm MST)

New, comments

The Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers haven't seen each other since their "home-and-home" series back on Dec. 31st and Jan. 1st. The Lakers won the December game, 92-89, thanks in-part to a Nuggets collapse. And Denver won at home on New Year's Day 99-90. The Nuggets are coming off a win in Los Angeles against the Clippers, now it's time to face the older brother Lakers in Denver as the second game of a back-to-back-to-back in Snowpocalypse!

Opposition's Take: Silver Screen and Roll

This is the first snowstorm to ever hit the Mile High City and everyone is freaking out. Colorado has never seen snow before, so let's take a look around and see what reactions people are having ...

‎2 for 1's on everything!! 5pm-11pm Snow Day Special at Spill Lounge Denver tonight!!— at Spill Lounge Denver.

If you're looking to forget about the horrific terrors of the snow, then Spill Lounge looks like the place to be (thanks Facebook) to numb your worries with alcohol. The Lakers players may want to stop in to help ease the worries of their January blues. Kobe Bryant and Company went 10-7 and racked up marquee wins against the Clippers, Jazz, Mavericks, Grizzlies, and Rockets. But L.A. suffered some marquee losses to the Nuggets, Blazers, Clippers, Heat, Magic, Pacers, and Bucks.

The Lakers are not the dominant team they once were when they won the 2008-09 title and the 2009-10 title.

Last Snowpaclypse update before I go to bed: more snow falling, patio furniture has a 1/4 (inch) on it. Ripping up my floors for firewood. -John Reidy, SouthStands303.com

Perhaps a sarcastic Tweet from local podcast legend John Reidy, perhaps not. One thing we know for sure ... people in Denver do not know what to do with this snowfall. The Nuggets and Lakers surely know what they want to do against each other this evening. After playing twice already, both teams are familiar with each other and will try to do what they do best.

The Nuggets used a little more size last night against the Clippers with Corey Brewer missing the game for personal reasons. Whatever the case was, George Karl used Timofey Mozgov for 22 minutes and he responded with 11 points (5-5 from the field), 7 rebounds (1 offensive), 2 blocks, and 1 steal. And one hard foul on Blake Griffin in a, "We must protect this paint!" move. Even Kosta Koufos was used for 12 minutes and produced 4 points, 5 rebounds (2 offensive), and 1 block.

hell has offically frozen over and my store is closing early!!!! for once i get to participate in a snow day........yes!

That Facebook status sums up the attitude in Denver. A touch of panic, hysteria, and joy. The Nuggets are playing another Los Angeles team, they are playing on national television again (and Altitude), and tip-off is once again at 8:30 p.m. Mountain.

Snowpocalypse or not, the Nuggets could use another big win ...
