Melo suspended one game by team

Well, a day after learning Melo would not play against Detroit for an apparent "personal matter" we get the truth - or at least learn he has been suspended for one game.

Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony has been suspended by the team for tonight's game at Detroit.

The team called it an in-game transgression, which occurred in Sunday's game at Indiana.

Multiple sources said coach George Karl tried to take Anthony out of the game in the third quarter, but Anthony refused to come out, disrespecting the coach.

"There is a code of conduct that we take very seriously, especially from a leader and co-captain," Nuggets vice president of player personnel Rex Chapman said. "Carmelo knows this and regrets what happened. He is a very competitive person and made a poor decision in the heat of the moment. We look forward to having him back on Thursday and will have no further comment at this time."

For the Nuggets to suspend Melo for apparently refusing to come out of the game against Indiana is pretty ridiculous to me. You would think a suspension would come if Melo refused to enter the game. I hope this incident does not throw a wrench in Denver's season.

Melo will return to action Thursday against the Blazers with hopefully this incident behind him.
