2012 Trade Rumors: When will Josh Smith become available?

Atlanta Hawks power forward Josh Smith might be the next piece shipped out of Hotlanta.

The Nuggets roster has an open spot on it, but it's likely that Quincy Miller will fill that void. Although, the Nuggets also still possess a traded player exception in the amount of $13 million for Nene. That means the Nuggets could take back a player making $13 million a year or less by simply trading a draft pick for him.

Josh Smith, the moody power forward of the Atlanta Hawks, is entering the final year of his contract and will make $13.2 million for the 2012-13 season. He's athletic and can stretch the floor a bit, but would the Hawks trade him with Dwight Howard set to test the free agent market after the season? I'm not sure if the Nuggets TPE is for exactly $13 million or not. If it is, then the only way to trade for Smith would be to send out salary in order to acquire him. It is interesting that there is an open roster spot and Q. Miller has not been signed yet.

The Nuggets also have their Bi-Annual Exception (BAE) available in the amount of $1.957 million and their Partial Mid-Level Exception in the amount of $3.33 million, information courtesy of ShamSports.com. But can you find anyone on the following list you'd rather have than Josh Smith? Would you even want Josh Smith in Denver?
