Game 82 Second Half Thread: Nuggets at Suns
I didn't really just see a lineup of Anthony Carter, Ty Lawson, Chauncey Billups, Malik Allen and Chris Andersen, did I?
I'm ashamed to be a Nuggets fan tonight.

Okay...
for that first half, i had my Melo jersey on. Do things get any better if I switch to my Chauncey jersey?
Although I’d rather put on my Iverson Nuggets jersey at this point.

To where the team with the better record gets the higher seed
No
The division winners are guaranteed a top 4 seed, but whoever has the best record amongst the top 4 gets the higher seed.

cancer
karl knew about cancer in December but the organiaztion made no plans?! Dantley is what we came up with? Maybe Kroenke is on the way out…
Many thought AD would be a fine interim coach
in hindsight plucking Jeff Van Gundy off espn may have been a better idea.

I don't know why,

What's wrong with you?
No, I’m hoping for the best as well. Although there’s zero inspiration from this team lately.

i didnt watch the 30 for 30
but i’ve been an iverson fan for the past 10 years, and he’s actually the reason i followed the Nuggets because they had my favorite player [Iverson] and also brought my second favorite player [JR] from the Hornets. I’ve known about this trial for a while, and take this for what you may, but Iverson has always said that the eyewitness accounts were inaccurate. I remember he said that even if he had hit someone, he wouldn’t have hit a woman in the head with a chair, because that’s what the eyewitnesses were saying
now i didn’t watch 30 for 30 yet so maybe there’s something I’m missing, but Iverson is possibly the most misunderstood athlete in history.

Iverson doesn't want to win a title a la Robert Horry
he wanted to win one on his own. Just like Kobe does (and did). Just like every superstar ever.
Lebron, Bosh, Wade, Melo and Howard could all team up and run the league for years. But they don’t, because they want to do it on their own terms.
AI’s a proud guy, and he didn’t want to whither away in the league like bench scrubs do.
You have an extremely loose definition of the word thug
If you think he’s selfish (I don’t, but you can; neither of us actually knows him personally), ok, but that has nothing to do with being a “thug.” Why don’t you try using words the way they were meant to be, instead of relying on them for epithets based on racial stereotypes.

Alright before everyone kills themself or worse! - becomes an OKC fan
REMEMBER that you never know what you are going to get with this team. Yeah, they’ll finish with the 5th seed and not have home court. But don’t give up hope…this team was amazing in last year’s playoffs (on the road or at home). Now they’ve gotten even better with AAA and that other kid whom I have forgotten all about.
Anyway the Nuggets have done very well against the Jazz this year, so should we draw them (very possible) then not all hope is lost. Remember the Nugs won in Utah without Melo or Chauncey.
I’m not converting to the darkside any more, but optimism in any form is a reach tonight. A big reach.
Fix the line, Moreno will be fine.
Disagree
The Nugs will finish with a 53-29 record, one game back of last year’s. They go in to the playoffs facing either the Suns or Jazz. The latter team has had massive struggles against the Nuggets.
Then should the Nugs pull out a first round win, they face the Lakers, who have struggled enormously as of late.
Besides, optimism is never that great of a stretch when you have Carmelo, AM I RIGHT
I agree for the most part
but it’s a big if, cause last year they were playing good defense. This season not so much.
''I'm really not a Facebook or Twitter guy. I'm a prime rib and baked potato guy.'' - Sweet Lou
I’m pretty much always joking, as I was in that last one…
But seriously, we aren’t doing shit in the playoffs. This team is in absolute shambles right now. We can’t just flip a switch, it’s over.
Fix the line, Moreno will be fine.
5-2 to finish the season
I know this game really sapped a lot of momentum, but 5-2 after that truly horrendous road trip is pretty good in my eyes.
i'm not rooting for any team outside of the nuggets
but as long as LA, cleveland, utah, SA, dallas or phx don’t win, i’m happy.
lol
I love your optimisim, wish I could share it though. Unless Petro starts getting minutes this team will crumble before we enter the playoffs.
OKC is my 2nd fav team, so fun to watch. Fuck LA n CLE
OK guys, I’m back, I’m not turning into a Zombie Sonics fan. I thought it about it while I was banging my head against the table, and I just really don’t like their jerseys enough. I also hate Oklahoma.
Speaking of OK… Do you guys know why Texas hasn’t fallen into the Gulf of Mexico yet? It’s because Oklahoma sucks.
So, don’t worry, I’m here for the long, depressing, shitty haul that we could also call the playoffs.
Fix the line, Moreno will be fine.
I'm very optimistic
But I haven’t seen that crisp passing, Defense leads to the fast break Nuggets in quite some time. Granted I don’t get altitude.
I guess nobody's watching utah/gs
devin george has hit 3 straight 3’s and is keeping the warriors in it.

Question for people here
possible follow up question depending on the responses:
Who do you think is a better head coach overall
Larry Brown or George Karl?
the reason i ask is because of this
George Karl and Larry Brown are polar opposites in this sense.
George is the kind of guy who will take the W. Larry would rather lose playing the right way.
I think games like this shows that Larry’s approach pays off in the long run.

i love JR and how hes able to light up a game
But oddly now that he’s the all time leading 3 shooter I don’t know how pissed id be if we traded him…. though he seems to play well with Ty… dunno what the future holds.
Melo to the Knicks anyone? Fuck I hope not but…

I agree...
I see Warkentien (if he stays) actually going through a roster blow out if they don’t make progress in the playoffs
Let's try and go for another all-time record
Like, going scoreless in a quarter. That’s would be a positive thing at least
Well AD's tried many times
Why would it work this time? The AC-JR-Nene-Bird-Tacos lineup seemed to have the potential to go scoreless
Well the Suns should be fresh tomorrow night
Since they didn’t really need to spend any energy tonight.

Yeah
I kinda like Amundson’s game. Sure I hate him when he plays against us, but I’d love to get him to Denver.
remember how good we were in the playoffs last year?
i have the game 3 vs. dallas on my iTouch, and i always watch it over and over. damn that was a great game, we fought hard, played excellent D, never gave up and came up with an amazing win. now were a bunch of fucking pussies who have no confidence and dont even trust eachother. its incredible to look at us last year and see how much better we were then than we are now. what a bunch of hopeless fucks
And just 6 weeks ago, this team was better than that one
What happened?

It was compounded with wall those silly ass losses that some said
Well it’s only one game. Those games I told them would come back a bite them in the ass. But NOOOOOOOOOOOO they said. The Nuggets will be fine. Okay fine
I guess I knew that
I’m just so fucking frustrated. The thing to remember is that GK winning his fight with cancer is bigger than any championship the Nuggets could have won this year. Let’s just start getting ready for the playoffs and play with some pride and focus once there. That’s all I can ask at this point. The Nuggets will win a title some day. It would have been this year if everything could have stayed together, but, needless to say, it hasn’t. If we don’t turn it around in this year’s playoffs, we need to make a minor tweak, add some depth that will actually have a serious impact, and we’ll take it next year. This group isn’t done yet. But, boy does this game suck.

thinking how easy they have it against the nuggets
"I believe that basketball, when a certain level of unselfish team play is realized, can serve as a kind of metaphor for ultimate cooperation. It is a sport where success, as symbolized by the championship, requires that the dictates of the community prevail over selfish personal impulses. An exceptional player is simply one point on a five-pointed star. Statistics—such as points, rebounds, or assists per game—can never explain the remarkable interaction that takes place on a successful pro team."

get blown out twice in crucial games. you go nuggets!
After the Suns win tomorrow, the Nuggets will have home court against the Jazz. We’ve had the Jazz’s number. So what if we draw the Lakers in the second round instead of the conference finals? Better to get them out of the way since we have to go through them anyway. Nothing is over!

The game was an utter turd
There’s no use piling it on any specific player. When I’ve been resigned to this game being a loss since early in the second quarter, everyone fucking sucked. Let’s just see what the playoffs bring. I personally am going to take a couple days off the Nuggets, throw myself entirely behind the Avs, and hopefully by Friday night I’ll be feeling some excitement for the Nuggets again. When that happens, I’m looking strictly at what lies ahead and will hopefully never think of this game again (which won’t happen because games like this scar you as a fan, but I can hope).
by airforcefoo on Apr 13, 2010 11:42 PM MDT up reply actions
i do realize the entire team laid a goose egg tonight
but billups is the leader of this team. the team more often than not follows his example. for whatever reason down the stretch, he turned into AI 2.0, holding the ball for way too damn long and trying to make something out of nothing. what happens next? the major players on this team follow suit (melo and JR). what you get is what we’ve been seeing on the floor as of late. i do realize it’s unfair to pin the blame all on one person, but this has been a recurring theme as of late, and it’s fucked this team’s chances over.
