Kiki's plan
Not sure how many of you where around but I remember back during the dark days, (McDyess and Van Exel had just left) something Kiki said. His stated goal was to create a team that had a top ten talent at all five positions. Looking back it seems like a pretty smart idea because I’d say that right now we have top ten point guard with CB, top ten SF with Melo, same with K-Mart as well as Nene. I’d also say Lawson, JR and Bird are top ten at their positions regarding reserves. Only person who wouldn’t make the cut would be AA although he has obviously been better than most anticipated.
To me this team really looks well put together and can obviously handle a lot of defensive tricks because of the versatility of the team. The more I watch them play the more confidence I have in them to play well when it matters. I like our chances as long as we aren’t playing the Wizards in the Finals.
It all lies on Petro
Not saying he is amazing but if he gets time on the court, we will win more games. Him playing means Nene, KMart n bird get a lil rest. Good thing if you ask me.
Now if Karl would just come to understand that not all players can come off the bench after being there for 40 games and play, players need time in a real game and often to keep up. Practice all you want but not playing in a real game will only hurt you
There's a reason why Petro's not playing
The man just doesn’t have the goods. He’s not a 2nd year guy, he’s been in the league several years (6 or 7 if I remember right) and hasn’t developed.
If you haven’t developed by then you’re not going to develop (wish I was wrong, I’ve been a Petro hopeful)

Seems like Allen doesn't really think all that highly of Karl.
And about being disrespected, good. That’s exactly the sort of mentality I want in my team. Phil Jackson doesn’t think we’re good enough? Fuck him.
(Sorry for the profanity.)

Matt Prater, pre-2009 season: Despised, lambasted, Josh McDaniels is derided for not replacing him.
Matt Prater, post-2009 season: Loved, praised, everone forgets the time when they called Josh McDaniels an idiot for not replacing him.

remember when we beat the lakers during the regular season last year?
Remember what Jackson said? He said it was a “garbage game.” Remember when Popovich didn’t even play his starters against us (with good reason as it turned out)?
Do you think these guys will publicly respect the Nuggs?
When we beat the best and lose against the worst it gives everybody an excuse to write us off. I think the thing that they are missing is that the Nuggets don’t write themselves off. It is like they lose to a horrible team and they just forget about it. No one else does (the fans included), but they do. It is almost like they are playing for April, and only for April. And at this point, why not? Is there a person who can deny the fact that the Nuggets can beat the best in the NBA (home or away)? So, who cares. We are 7 weeks away from the playoffs with a team everyone writes off.
But I promise – they don’t want to play us in the playoffs. You can count on that,.
I understand why Melo feels that way
The first thing I heard on my T.V. this morning was “The Nuggets won’t beat the Lakers. They’re a good team at the wrong time… etc” It’s Bullshit! After hearing that, it made me think of how awesome it will be (hopefully) when Denver wins it all this year. What are they going to say then?
Yeah the media is a whole different story
I feel like it is connected to the fact that we are a small market team.

Here is a fresh example:
The Nuggets (dropped from 4 to 6 on the NBA power rankings)
The Nuggets have faced just one below-.500 opponent in their last 14 games, so their 6-5 record over the last 11 isn’t too much cause for alarm. But one of those five losses was to the one bad team they faced. There’s no excuse for Friday’s loss in Washington.
No mention of a big win over Cleavland IN Cleveland, or a decisive wire to wire thumping of the Celtics.
Yes, the loss to Washington was awful. But it it was on a back to back after an overtime game against a scrappy and athletic Washington team throwing whatever they can on the court.
With the way the Jazz and Thunder are playing, the Nuggets shouldn’t be ranked higher than fifth, so I don’t really disagree. Though I do think they should have gotten the nod over Orlando at the 5 spot.

What I find ironic...
is that the Lakers would probably further distance themselves from the Nuggets in the NBA’s elite if they just acknowledged the Nuggets as respectable competition, but it is their arrogance that is fueling this team to knock them off.
I don’t discount these players desire to win a title, but I think there is nothing more motivating than being disrespected or hearing “you can’t” or “they have no chance”.
Did ya notice in the Kreiger piece...
Kreiger made reference to the term “Penny Wise and Pound Foolish” which was a fan post posted the on the day before the trade deadline.
How’s that for the Denver Press giving some love to the Stiffs.com… whether they knew what they were doing or not!!!
