[UPDATED] OUR FIRST DENVER STIFFS EVENT - TONIGHT!

6a00d8341c67fe53ef01157097ddd5970b-800wi_mediumNate and I have been talking for a long time about having a Denver Stiffs "Event" for Colorado-based Stiffs to get together and watch a big road game.  For our debut event, we're targeting Chopper's this Friday for the Lakers/Nuggets game.  Tipoff is at 8:30pm but Altitude is doing a special 8:00pm broadcast live from Chopper's, and there will be drink/food specials.

[UPDATE] A lot of you have asked if there is an age limit.  I have called Choppers and there is NO AGE LIMIT and families are welcome.  You just can't drink any alcohol with the rest of us degenerates, of course.

Who's in for crashing Chopper's this Friday?!  Address is: 80 South Madison Street / Denver, CO 80209-3002 and we've set up a Facebook Fan Page Event if you'd like to formally RSVP: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=294452197568&index=1

Thank you for your service. I wasn’t trying to say everyone gets shot at, but that it is a possibility depending on your job, and certainly lots of people are in areas that could result in them being shot at.

I am very supportive of all the members of the military, especially now. Both my grandfathers were in the army, one until he retired, my dad was in Vietnam, my step-father is a retired SEAL, and my brother is a civillian employee of the Navy. Luckily, none of them were ever wounded, though my step father has some physical issues from spending so much time in very cold water.

They sit in the same section as "Kmart's biggest fan"

The fanatical lady that makes the fanatical signs about how she is Kmart’s biggest fan. Knitted herself a Kmart scarf too if I remember right, LOL. I usually split season tickets with a buddy of mine and we sit in this same section. It is a great section other than the occasional season-ticket-holder-looney-bird because it seems most the fans are very loyal to the Nugs and more educated than other sections I have sat in years past.

Last night I sat in front of a guy that was supposedly a Nugs fan and he was bashing Kmart from the opening tip after his 27 and 11 performance against the Spurs but I was in a charity section that I purchased from my nephew’s school.

I just get so into the games I forget about other things when I am there. I don’t think I have tix for the next few games but I’ll hit you up at the next one I am at.

by Gasus on Feb 4, 2010 2:25 PM MST up reply actions

Random question

I took some foreign friends to a game this season and they had all sorts of questions more style oriented, from headbands to armbands to socks to tattoos. One asked why KMart wears knee pads on his shins and the other commented that they looked like shinguards (soccer lovers, it figures) – I had no answer for them, other than a guess that he wears those to avoid getting his shins bruised up by kicked balls? K-Mart does a great job of getting his legs out in passing lanes to disrupt bounce passes, so that seemed logical… but I definitely pulled that suggestion out of my ass.

Any idea?

by Artimus Mangilord on Feb 4, 2010 2:24 PM MST up reply actions

He probably has shin splints

I get them real bad because of basketball. You can still play but they get really sore and if they are hit it hurts pretty bad. If you notice, every time Kmart gets hit in the leg he takes a while bending over and rubbing his leg or just trying to get over the pain. Shin splints are real common in bball.

by Gasus on Feb 4, 2010 2:28 PM MST up reply actions

What's up with that?

I went to the game last night too (nosebleed section) and a group of guys were saying all kinds of crap like that too, dissing their own team. I guess the 20 point loss had something to do with it but damn, there are a lot of stupid people out there, just sucks that some are Nuggets fans too.

by GoldenNugget on Feb 4, 2010 9:50 PM MST up reply actions

No Doubt

I almost got kicked out for sticking up for Kmart. Three dudes and a girl had to move or I was gonna tear one of their heads off, lol. Usher came up to me and told me no more trouble and I later saw the guy I got into it with picking his nose on the jumbotron. LOL

The STIFF LIST (as of 8/30 by Andrew)

STIFF #1: J.R. SMITH
Remember when I wrote that J.R.'s "nine lives may be up"? Well, that was last January. With Denver police looking closely at J.R. allegedly attacking former 14er Damien Lolar at a recent Pepsi Center shoot-around, it's clear that J.R. will never mature and it's time to move him.

STIFF #2: LEON ROSE AND WORLDWIDE WES
After commandeering LeBron's departure from Cleveland, Rose and Wes are allegedly working to move Melo out of Denver. Let's hope the Nuggets do what's best for Denver and not these two franchise-destroyers.

STIFF #3: RIC BUCHER
The man who once guaranteed that Kobe Bryant had played his last game in a Lakers uniform has been gravy-training on other reporters' Melo-related stories all summer long. Who does Bucher think he is, a sports blogger?

STIFF #4: MARCUS JORDAN
Like father, like son. Last week, His Airness's 19-year-old son tweeted about dropping $50k at the Aria casino in Las Vegas prompting an investigation.

STIFF #5: INDIANA PACERS
Brandon Rush has been suspended five games for violating the NBA's drug policy and 2010 draftee Lance Stephenson was recently arrested on assault charges. Larry Bird sure is doing a great job re-shaping the Pacers' already shoddy image.
