Personally I can't wait for the world championships

My buddy, an avid Florida Gator fan and not much else, has always argued to me the Pro’s are not worth watching because all they play for is money. I have always said a true pro plays for a chip and the money is a nice bonus (but we know this not to be true in many cases) and the pros will always be better to watch because they are immensely more talented. My buddy always said he preferred college to the pros because college players played for the love of the game, and therefore, were the most pure form of sport being played. I countered to this that international play is the purest form of the sport because the players are still playing for the love of the game ( i mean sure they get some cash too but its miniscule in comparison to what they make playing for the NBA) as well as playing for national pride AND the players involved are the best in their country (or at least some of the very best in the case of the US). Chauncey would be a great addition to be the veteran pg of the team. I’m not sure how I feel about him putting more wear and tear on his body but it would be awesome to see two Nuggets on the national team

Personally, I dislike college sports

I simply have never understood that argument that you friend made. I get that all the time too but I just don’t buy it. I watch sports for two reasons, 1) because I like to see the best in the world go at it, and 2) because I like to watch the human body perform at the highest level possible. I get neither of those in college sports. All you get there is Pop Warner on steriods. A bunch of guys who are never going to make it, playing with a few who are supremely more talented than the rest of the group. The pros are where it’s at. It’s the best of the best, in the entire world dueling it out. What more could you ask for?

Disagree

I love college basketball. To me, there is nothing better, especially March Madness. In college, the teams don’t get to take any nights off. Don’t get me wrong, I love the NBA too. However, it is not uncommon for teams to take the night off, plus the season is soooo long….plus, I can’t stand the officiating.

Having said that, I don’t follow any other college game. I don’t really understand the attraction to college football, especially the arbitrary way they crown a champion. Have a tournement please!!! Of course, I didn’t go to a big time football school and I’m not from the southeast, so there you go.

No, I agree

I love college basketball for the simple fact that I love basketball in general. My statement above was kind of aimed more at college football. That is one sports that I just don’t understand what all the hype is about. Imo, it flat out sucks.

Every time I watch college football

I think “oh this would be fun if this game actually meant something, but because they aren’t ranked in the top 3 it doesn’t”.

Yeah, while Chauncey definitely deserves the recognition and honor that comes with playing for Team USA

I can’t say I want him to play, especially at his age and with his injuries so far this season. Then again, I can’t think of too many players who have been adversely affected by the extra “season”… Yao and Manu come to mind, but not many others. If Kidd could do it, Chauncey certainly can.

Maybe I’m just paranoid because of how the World Baseball Classic affects baseball players…

STIFF LIST (as of 2/7 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. THE NUGGETS AT HOME
How is it possible that a Nuggets team with this much talent can be 7-5 at home?! Things have gotten so bad that fans are clamoring for J.R. Smith to return.

2. CARMELO ANTHONY
Kobe Bryant plays through any and all ailments. Melo uses any and ailments as an excuse not to play.

3. KEVIN LOVE
Just when the T'Wolves are looking better, Love stomps on Luis Scola and lands himself a two-game suspension.

4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The 'Cats have lost 11 straight and are now 3-21 ... in the Eastern Conference! This is what happens when you let an underwear salesman with a Hitler mustache run your team.

5. MIKE BROWN
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Google it!) got himself a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee.
