Nuggets Fans' view: Game 1 of the Finals, Magic at Lakers

Offer your thoughts on Game 1 ... whatever you want to talk about. But above all ... who is going to win tonight?

It's obviously important for Orlando to split these first two games. Game 1 is usually the easiest to steal, so tonight should be almost a "must win" for Orlando in my opinion. We've seen all the, "Phil Jackson is 23,568-0 when he wins game one" stats - so if Orlando wants to take this they'll need an inspired performance from Dwight Howard and Company tonight.

Don't fool yourselves and think Kobe wont have his team fired up. With his place in NBA History at stake (0-2 in the Finals without Shaq if they lose) Kobe will be gunning for this title and it all starts tonight.

I can't wait to see what happens when Pau has to guard Rashard Lewis on the perimeter ...

Should be an interesting floor spread for L.A. there and on the other end … how can Lewis stick with Pau down low?

Nate

I’m curious…you rooting for Orlando or LA? All people have been telling me is that they want LA to win so that Denver got beat by the best. As for me, I think that’s bullshit. I will never root for the Lakers and I can’t wait to see Orlando kick their ass.

There is the "moral victory" thing ...

But how important is that? Not important to me.

When I play NBA Live ‘09 … I like to shoot the 3 ball and throw down some power dunks … that’s basically what Orlando does and their style is sort of exciting. I don’t take anything away from the Lakers as they have a great team, but I’m a sucker for the underdog and wouldn’t mind seeing Orlando pull it off.

Plus that’ll make L.A. even hungrier next season and could set up a great playoff series w/ Denver if it worked out that way …

I'd be rooting for the Magic

whether or not LA went through the Nugs. Don’t like Kobe. Don’t like Gasol. Don’t like Vujacic. And overall Howard seems to be a pretty likable superstar.

Anyone else watching...?

What a great story Nelson coming back is, he’s just kicking sasha’s ass up and down the court.

Well that was a fun series.

Should we start the discussions on ESPN about whether or not Kobe is as good as MJ tonight or tomorrow?

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
