by OCBlazerFan1 on May 21, 2009 8:45 PM MDT reply actions

that wasnt a hard foul at all,

Kmart just caught him at a bad angle on the arm in the air.

by SoCalBuff12 on May 21, 2009 8:45 PM MDT reply actions

ariza's foul on ariza wasnt intentional either, obviously

Rudy’s fall was a perfect case of an awkward foul, not necesarily a hard one

by Andrew T. Fisher on May 21, 2009 10:38 PM MDT up reply actions

You are wrong!

he took the Lakers to the Finals but he didn’t win a title until he had Kobe and Wade on his side. You are giving him too much credit for getting there but it took Kobe and Wade to bail him out to get those rings.

by PURPLE AND GOLD FOR LIFE on May 21, 2009 10:40 PM MDT up reply actions

Really?

So it’s a coincidence that Wade and Kobe have failed to win a title since he left? They are superstars that carried Aristotle yet crumbled without him? Name another star player who has titles with two teams and appearances with three. It is NOT a coincidence, and you can’’t give the credit to players who can’t sustain that level of success in his absence

"I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious." - Albert Einstein

by Andrew T. Fisher on May 21, 2009 10:49 PM MDT up reply actions

You are right. Cant take that away from you...

but all i am asking is that you look at wades’s and Kobe’s stats in the 4th qtr during those years. look at what they had to do to win a title and carry shaq. then tell me if he needed them more than they needed him?

by PURPLE AND GOLD FOR LIFE on May 21, 2009 10:52 PM MDT up reply actions

I don't really understand your point

The big picture is more important than fourth quarters, especially considering the flux of strategy. Just because Wade made more shots late (I haven’t checked up on this claim) doesn’t mean Shaq didn’t carry the team all season or even late in the game. Just his presence allows for more open outside shots. Eh, you’ll believe in Kobe regardless of what I say, and I’ll disagree. Oh well.

WOW...great game

Just my two cents:

Kleiza definitely needs props, but the player of the game was CB7. He took over at the end and showed the team how to play smart, tough playoff close-out basketball.

Plus you have to give Chauncy mad props for making Kobe look like the captain of the fail boat at the end of the half when he bounced the in-bounds off his back. I couldn’t stop laughing!

I don’t want breakaway speed. I want break-some-poor-fool-as-I-bowl-you-over power getting 6 yards off a play that should have been stopped for 2 at most.

What a game this was!

I’m going to have trouble not repeating what everyone has said, but I’ll give it a shot.

Linas Kleiza?! Where the hell did that come from?! I was shocked and am still shocked at how well that guy played. He really stepped up and I just can’t even believe it. Can we get another great game from his this Saturday?

CB7…dude. You’re just a beast. Period. Carmelo…likewise. J.R…what the hell? Get your game on, dude! I’m going to have to talk to my good buddy J.R. and straighten him out. Birdman played a decent game, but he got posterized a couple of times. Hopefully he’ll get his head on straight back home for Game 3. Dahntay Jones made me very proud at the end of this game because in the face of a potential foul out, he kept playing his game and didn’t let up. His D really helped at the end of this one.

Overall, I think the Nuggets played in the C+ B- range if I had to give them a grade. They are not playing their best basketball, obviously, but despite the terrible officiating BOTH ways, the hostile crowd, and against the “most talented team in the league” and held on after a terrible start where they easily could have given up like the Rockets in Game 7. Very proud of this team and can’t wait for Game 3, obviously.

great game

Denver’s defense on Kobe down the stretch was key.

However, that credit being said, the officials cost the Lakers the game down the stretch. Several blow calls, and bad mistakes by simply being out of position with no view of the action on the court.

Once again, my rallying cry of the need for more officials on the court (permanent baseline officials would be nice) goes unheard.

Either way however, can’t wait till Game 3, I know LA will steal one of these two games in Denver.

The STIFF LIST (as of 7/26 by Nate)

STIFF #1: COLORADO ROCKIES
The Rox have lost eight of their last 10, including six in a row. During the six-game losing streak Colorado has been outscored 33-13 ... and they might soon be the reason by buddy Rory has a massive heart-attack. But there are still 63 games to go and an upcoming eight-game homestand is hopefully just what the team, and Rory, needs to turn things around.

STIFF #2: MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES/DAVID KAHN
Replacing a 24 year-old point guard with a 29 year-old point guard is just a sound NBA move ... uh? Kahn handed Ramon Sessions a 4-year $16 million contract last offseason and just gave the same deal to Luke Ridnour this offseason. In order to make room for Ridnour, Kahn shipped Sessions and young big man Ryan Hollins off to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Delonte West (who is still facing weapons-possession charges). Maybe Ricky Rubio will get to the T-Wolves before Ridnour's contract expires, but don't count on it.

STIFF #3: TRACY MCGRADY
McGrady has been shopping his services this offseason and after getting nibbles from the Lakers, Clippers, and most recently the Bulls ... T-Mac is still without an employer. The 31 year-old guard, with a rich injury history, apparently is not ready to accept a reduced role. Will McGrady's stubborness land him on a lottery team where he'll try to prove he can still be "the man" or will he accept being a role player and wind up in Chicago gunning for that elusive title?

STIFF #4: DANNY AINGE
The Celtics did lose defensive ace Tony Allen to the Memphis Grizzlies, but re-signing Marquis Daniels to a one-year $2.5 million deal is a little crazy. Daniels should be thanking agent Mark Bartelstein ... maybe the rapper can sing his agent a song. (Daniels is in the yellow shirt in the video)

STIFF #5: NUGGETS SLEEPING ON SIZE
The Nuggets decided to bring back Anthony Carter on a one-year $1.3 million deal. Do the Nuggets really need a third point guard heading into training camp over another big body? Check out some names still on the free-agent market: Louis Amundson (yes he'll require more money), Fabricio Oberto, Kwame Brown, Anthony Tolliver, DJ Mbenga, Nathan Jawai, Josh Boone, Kyrylo Fesenko, and Joey Graham. Denver still has the bi-annual exception to spend ... so maybe there is still hope of grabbing somebody.
