Hey boys and girls ...

If anyone is around and wants to talk Rockets vs. Lakers as it’s going … I’ll be here.

I love the Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy combo ...

JVG cracks me up with his smugness and humor.

Derek Fisher is getting old ...

This Rockets lineup is ridiculous … I’d take some of those boys on my team anyday.

He just had a nice block on Scola though

Holding out hope was nice

But I am pretty sure the team and most fans expected this.

by runningdonut on May 17, 2009 3:07 PM MDT up reply actions

The Lakers

They simply have better players than Houston.

Clearly they have some issues though as the Rockets overcame that to be the better team for 3 games. The Nugs were due for this challenge though. It will be the first series without home court and they definitely won’t be favored.

by Greyson on May 17, 2009 4:02 PM MDT reply actions

We should play faster than Houston

We also need to figure out how the Rockets made Gasol a non factor for a few games. LA seems lost when he struggles

Melo needs to get over his troubles with that team. He can’t play like Artest in this series or we will be done. Whoever is more physical should come out ahead.

by runningdonut on May 17, 2009 4:04 PM MDT reply actions

Gasol

plays off his man too much. If you have a good paint shooter to play vs. Gasol you will burn him big time, like Scola did.

Brandon Roy, 'nuff said.

You don't think

They’ll put Gasol on KMart and Bynum on Nene?

The 2009 Colorado Rockies: Expect the Unexpected

by free7694 on May 17, 2009 4:35 PM MDT up reply actions

Gasol

is not very good defensively – Denver needs to attack him. Heck, our Blazer rookie starting SF Batum famously dunked on him twice this year. Attack him and you take him out of the game. Gasol can block shots, but if you put someone fast on him then Gas is done.

Brandon Roy, 'nuff said.

For what its worth, the Rockets did a very good job containing Kobe defensively. I wonder if Dahntay will be up to the task.

by endverse on May 17, 2009 5:46 PM MDT reply actions

The Nuggets have been successful

Because in Round 1 they made it CP3 vs the Nuggets and in Round 2 they made it Dirk vs the Nuggets. If we can shut down Kobe’s supporting cast like we have Paul’s and Nowitzki’s, I like our chances.

The 2009 Colorado Rockies: Expect the Unexpected

by free7694 on May 17, 2009 5:48 PM MDT up reply actions

Exactly

Kobe didn’t have any big games when they blew out Houston. In those games he punched holes in the defense getting his teammates easy looks, and only hitting a couple of dagger 3’s and momentum killers for good measure. When everyone else struggles and Kobe feels he needs to scoreto keep it close, they haven’t played nearly as well as a team

by runningdonut on May 17, 2009 5:58 PM MDT up reply actions

Barring the SG position, I’d say the teams are pretty evenly matched. The chances are good, yeah.

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
