2008 Preseason Game 2: Denver Nuggets at Phoenix Suns Game Thread

Denver Nuggets at Phoenix Suns, Oct 11, 2008 8:00 PM MDT

I bet TNT is not too happy rigth now.

The second ever outdoor NBA game between the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns will be lacking some star power.  Carmelo Anthony will miss his second preseason game due to his bruised finger.  Allen Iverson reportedly experienced some swelling in his bruised knee last night and will sit out tonight's game.  On the Suns side of the ledger Amare Stoudemire will not be playing due to a scratched iris.

Despite the injuries, TNT is still planning on broadcasting the game at 8:00 PM Mountain.  I decided to open up a game thread since the game will be nationally televised so feel free to leave your thoughts as you watch.

Also, Bright Side of the Sun actually did some research and has learned that the weather forecast for the game is a temperature of 68 degrees at tip off with a wind of 15 miles per hour.  Could be fun.

Is it on in Denver/CO?

Suns fan here and TNT isn’t showing/having technical difficulties and it isn’t on Cox, Dish, Direct TV or anything currently in Phx.

Yes! Got the stream working

Via some KobeBryantAmericanNBAMuchSuccessWebsite.com chinese site. As it came on LK hits a 3 to make it 25-26 Suns. First Nuggets of the season for me. Psyched!

Thanks, but

the game finally came on here in Phx in time for the second half. TNT or Cox sure screwed that up.

No worries.

My commentary is all screwed up. Just heard Barkely say “There’s nothing like playing ball back in the hood, is there Marv?” all slowed down, Matrix style. Quality stuff. Liking that Lopez kid so far.

It is kinda funny

seeing guys blow on their hands during a basketball game.

And the blimp shots are kinda cool in small doses.

End of the 3rd

Nuggets 57-53. Can’t complain so far. Shaq was shut down big time and I am absolutely loving Renaldo. Ugly game though, both teams at around 30%. Let’s hope its the cold!

No Smush or Hunter through three quarters

Interesting. Could be Karl is giving Cleaves his chance to prove he belongs.

Note to TNT

I do not need to see Steve Kerr’s head in a little box the entire time he is being interviewed. Please put the game on the full screen.

Thanks.

Lol

Wow. The crowd is decidedly anti-Denver from the sounds of it

Nice win.

Suns never really looked dangerous, our scrubs did a nice job near the end. JR smith looked good going to the hole, Balkman was great and made a clutch block at the 3 point arc against Bell (I think). Dahntay Jones had his moments, as did Cleaves and Patterson.

Birdman was really a beast on the boards. Really liking him.

THE STIFF LIST (as of 3/8 by Andrew)

STIFF #1: K-MART'S LEFT KNEE
Best-case scenario, K-Mart misses another week or two with a sore knee.  Worst-case, he's done for the season with knee surgery.

STIFF #2: RON ARTEST
Nice hairdo.  'Nuff said.

STIFF #3: JOEL PRYZBILLA
The Blazers backup center re-injured his surgically repaired right knee after slipping in the shower.  Now we're just waiting for Greg Oden to slip on a banana peel.

STIFF #4: CAVALIERS FANS
Recently set the world record for the largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets - i.e. Snuggies.  Really?!  This is worthy of a world record?!

STIFF #5: BOSTON CELTICS
Losing to the pathetic Nets and almost losing to the Wizards is one thing.  But to do so at home within a week of each other...now that's an art.  I think it's safe to assume the Celtics are going nowhere in this year's playoffs.
