Question of the Week: What will be the best Nuggets game of the 2019-20 regular season?

With the schedule newly released, which games stand out the most?

NBA: Playoffs-Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers Jaime Valdez-USA TODAY Sports

With the NBA releasing the full 2019-20 regular season schedule yesterday, many fans (and media members) are already circling their calendars looking for the most interesting matchups of the season. For the Denver Nuggets, there are a variety of games on the docket that caught my eye this season.

Denver’s opener will take place on National television for the first time in a long time — a rematch against the Portland Trail Blazers on ESPN at Moda Center on October 23rd. The NBA must have been happy with the seven game series both teams generated in the playoffs last year and decided to kick each team’s respective season off the same way.

The home opener will take place against Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, newcomer Ricky Rubio, and the Phoenix Suns. Denver took care of business against Phoenix last season and should be ready to grab the first home victory once again.

Two of Denver’s national TV games will come against Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans, including one on Christmas night at 8:30 pm MST.

Nikola Jokic’s first matchup with Joel Embiid, the center he is so often compared to for title of best center in the NBA, will come when the Philadelphia 76ers visit Denver on November 8th. Somehow, neither of the Nuggets-Sixers games are on national TV, which is a travesty.

Three of Denver’s four games against the Utah Jazz, including their new Big Three of Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley, and Donovan Mitchell, will be on national TV. The first for Denver will be a home matchup on January 30th on TNT. The last game of the season will feature the Nuggets on the road against the Jazz on the same network, TNT.

Denver’s first matchup against LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the new look Los Angeles Lakers comes on December 3rd, my birthday. The first matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers and potentially the best new duo in the NBA in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will come on January 12th at home.

Overall, there are a lot of great games on the schedule to be excited about this year. I didn’t even mention the Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, or Milwaukee Bucks. That brings me to the Question of the Week: Which game during the 2019-20 regular season should Nuggets fans be most excited about?
