In what was a more tense than usual press conference, Tim Connelly lamented how close the Denver Nuggets were to finalizing a trade but had their trade partner walk away at the last minute. On the bright side, Connelly did express happiness with trading for Trey Lyles, a player they had rated highly in the draft two years ago, and Karnisovas noted that second rounder Vlatko Cancar has been on Denver’s radar for some time.

Meanwhile newest Nugget Tyler Lydon couldn’t be more excited to get to Denver. Lydon expressed excitement to be playing with the Nuggets and Nikola Jokic. He also tried to downplay concerns about transitioning from a zone defense scheme at Syracuse to the typical man to man style of defense played NBA noting that he practiced man defense every day. Overall a peculiar night, and certainly work still to be done as both Connelly and Arturus noted, some cleaning of the roster needs to happen.
