Video highlights of Gary Harris

NBA: Preseason-Denver Nuggets at Los Angeles Lakers Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

Gary Harris can shoot. There was a time a few years ago when I wasn’t sure that was the case but I am well past admitting that I was wrong about that. Harris is a shooter and a damn good one at that. The Denver Nuggets were in Los Angeles to take on Lonzo Ball and the Lakers on Monday and Harris stole the show, draining FIVE three-pointers en-route to a game-high 25 points. It’s even more impressive when you realize that he did all of that in just 21 minutes.

It’st just preseason so we should pump the breaks on hyperbole but one thing that jumped off the screen watching Harris play tonight: he looks confident. The three he hit in the first half in the left corner was so smooth that Harris started running back the moment it left his fingertips. He knew it was in. He knocked down another one from the wing that was about four feet behind the three-point line on the wing.

Harris was matched up with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, a player he is often compared to. Harris won the individual matchup going away, making big stops on the defensive end and putting in work on the offensive end. It was a good night for Gary. But then again, this might just be who Gary is now. He was great last year in a very consistent role. Perhaps this year that role is augmented. Perhaps he is the third member of Denver’s big 3. Check out the highlights and see for yourself.
