According to The Vertical, the Chicago Bulls and the Minnesota Timberwolves have been discussing a deal that would send Jimmy Butler to Minnesota and would send Kris Dunn and Zach Lavine to Chicago. However, reports now are that the talks broke down.

With Minnesota taking Dunn at #5 it allows them to play the Bulls and the Philadelphia 76ers against each other to try and get max return for the top rated point guard prospect. On the other hand, Minnesota has Ricky Rubio but adding a player of Dunn’s caliber certainly helps. From the Denver Nuggets persepctive, Dunn going at #5 is excellent because it guarantees that either Buddy Hield or Jamal Murray will be there at #7. Now all they have to do is sit back and wait to see who the New Orleans Pelicans select and take whichever shooter is still left on the board. All and all, a great start for Denver in this draft.
