When you're a sports-obsessed dork like me, there's nothing better than pulling off the quadruple-whammy. That's when your favorite NFL team, favorite NBA team and both your fantasy football teams all win on the same Sunday.And they didn't just win. Three out of the four teams in question - including my beloved Broncos and Nuggets - had to come back from fourth quarter deficits to pull off their victories.
Regarding the Nuggets specifically, they were able to overcome a sloppy three quarters worth of basketball, show some heart and avoid a potential trap game by beating the Minnesota Timberwolves at The Can tonight. You have to like the guts that this team has been showing all season long (as noted after opening night at Utah when I suggested that might have been a "good loss"), but even more so with Chauncey Billups running the show.
So while it may be tempting to nitpick what went wrong that got the Nuggets into a nine point hole with just 6:20 left in the game, I'm instead going to enjoy this win along with all the others today.
Now if only my fantasy basketball team was worth a damn, then I could be really happy.
