Danilo Gallinari (knee) is out, JaVale McGee(leg fracture) is out, Nate Robinson (ACL sprain) is out, Ty Lawson (rib fracture) is doubtful Injuries Derrick Rose is out for the season.
The Nuggets have beaten the Bulls in their last five tries. If they win tonight, it will be the longest streak of the series for either team. The Bulls bring a five-game winning streak into tonight’s contest.

Back in the early 1800's (right about when it feels like this season began), a young 18 year old named Mary Shelley began a book about a bordering-on-crazy doctor who creates life out of a bunch of misfit parts. Something that never really takes shape until the brain is installed, and brings the whole pupu platter to life. The doctor ends up greatly regretting his diabolical creation.

Approximately 200 years later, the Denver Nuggets are trying the same experiment. Your misfit body parts include power forwards playing at center, power forwards playing without power, a string of enticing-yet-disappearing small forwards, shooting guards who can shoot the dust off the @ss of a gnat one night, and couldn’t hit a bucket from three inches the next, and then are pressed into point guard service. And speaking of point guards… let’s talk about “the brain” of this beast.

The Nuggets “brain” to run this amalgamation this season has primarily been our closest player to an All Star in Ty Lawson, who has done so admirably, and turned in a career year in doing so. He was ably (at times) backed up by both Nate Robinson and Andre Miller. But a season-ending injury and a career-limiting meltdown took those options off the table, and Ty’s recent rib injury has truly left the team without a “brain” to run the show (with an injured Randy Foye doing his best to fill in). Yesterday’s trade deadline garnered the Nuggets a former terror in Aaron Brooks, who has spent the better part of this season as the Houston Rockets third string point guard. Will tonight be the night Dr. FrankenShaw plugs in a new brain? And if so, how will the other parts respond?

The Nuggets pulled out a road win for the first time in a while against the hapless and point guardless (I’m making up words now) Milwaukee Bucks last night, but face a much tougher task against the Chicago Bulls on the second night of a road back-to-back for the Nuggets. Chicago has an extra night’s rest, plays solid defense, and is finally getting their offense to stir over the course of the last few weeks, riding that combo to a five-game win streak coming into tonight. The Nuggets just broke a five game streak of their own last night, and hope to keep that energy going against an opponent they have beaten in their last five tries.

If Denver can bring the tempo and energy of last nights game, they have a chance to make tonight a close game with Chicago, and maybe even pull off back-to-back road wins. But this season has proven you never know what you're going to get with the Nuggets, and tonight will be a decidedly tougher task.

What say you, Nuggets Nation? Win? Lose? If I only had a brain.
