Gallinari could miss up to one month

In last night's game against the Houston Rockets, Danilo Gallinari suffered what is now being called a, "severe ankle sprain" after undergoing a CT scan and MRI today. Apparently the chip fracture that was seen in X-ray's last night was from a previous injury, most likely suffered before Gallo embarked on his pro-playing career. Read Benjamin Hochman's full story here from the Denver Post.

I think this is one of the "better case" scenarios considering all the options from an ankle injury.

Hope Gallo can trim the recovery time to less than a month. Let’s pick up the slack, Nuggs!

It's good news

but it’s still could be a month. Who’s going to pick up the slack on the offensive end for this team?

I would like to think Lawson

But I don’t think Lawson is 100% either. Remember way back when we said we’d be fine without JR’s offense? Oops.

Speaking of difficult to spell names

There is apparently a woman on reality tv who spells her name Blakeley. It just looks wrong, and I’m pretty sure she only pronounces two of the three syllables there.

Keep in mind that, because of the All Star Break...Gallo may be only losing about 12 games

that should be a positive.

That's a positive Jeff

However we cannot afford to fall behind in the West. I just don’t think we have a solid scoring threat

Awww, now the headline could have been

“Gallo could miss as little as one month” to give a positive spin!

Optimist Warriors are disappoint, Jeff. :(

I will say that even though you never want this to happen because of injuries, I think Gallo was suffering from significant fatigue at times, and missing 12 games will get his season-long minute load down to a reasonable area for the dense schedule.

i keep dancing on my own.

by atomiccafe on Feb 7, 2012 3:47 PM MST up reply actions

But, for optimists Cat & Jeff

Yeah it could have been worst. Also we do have guys in Gallos position that could take up slack. Thats not my real concern.

The real issue is the number of injuries to so many important players. I’ve never seen anything like it.

I used to have sympathy for Trailblazers losing a couple of their stars but geez its easier to make up for 1 or 2 great losses than 4, 5, 6 important losses.

Yes I’m feeling sorry for us.

Frankly, I’m also annoyed at anyone (like at RBM) who write "injuries arent an excuse. Yes, but up to a point.

This many injuries doesnt entitle you to constantly whine but who can seriously believe that the number of manpower games we will lose in the 1st two months wont mean that we’re often fielding a very poor team?

I cant imagine a team that could withstand the injuries and plow forward. What makes it worst yet is that any fall back is particularly hard to make up for in the Western C.

sad day for him and the clippers. mixed feelings on this as i miss the guy and want the best for him but it kind of helps our chances in the playoffs if we face them

by Kevin #3 on Feb 7, 2012 4:46 PM MST reply actions

Except the Clippers already had strong depth at PG

It will hurt them on the leadership front, too, but positionally-speaking, the Clippers could’ve had a more devastating injury. The Clippers will still give all the top teams in the West fits even without Billups.

Still, I feel really bummed for Chauncey.

by neumdaddy on Feb 7, 2012 5:40 PM MST up reply actions

Yeah it sucks for him

I’m expecting JR to sign with the Clips for sure now.

OT: the Lakers released Derrick Caracter today

If you all remember correctly the Nuggets were targeting this guy in the 2010 draft. He teamed with Julyan Stone at UTEP and at one point in high school was ranked higher than Lebron James (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/18/sports/ncaabasketball/18caracter.html?pagewanted=1). Might the Nuggets revisit him?

tomorrow… will probably win that one. His team matches up with the 2nd, 6th (Jr’s team), 14th and 16th place teams in the CBA to finish the season.

Chandler purposely tanking?

His team lost to one of the worst teams. The article said he has not been aggressive at all, just shooting jumpers and no defense. And now almost definitely won’t be in the playoffs! February 15th he’ll be back!

Actually a starting lineup of...

Ty, AAA, Hamilton, Nene and 2K with a bench of Dre, Rudy, Faried, Al, and Bird isnt too bad. When Brewer comes back he could either start or sub for Hamilton. Im interested to see what this kid has. We know he can shoot and this team needs a shooter.

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
