get ready for playoff disappointment

Execution- The carrying out or putting into effect of a plan, order, or course of action. Crunch Time- A critical period of time during which it is necessary to work hard and fast Playoffs- any final competition to determine a championship. The Denver Nuggets- A proffesional basketball franchise in the National Basketball Association, that lacks execution in crunch time, and will lose in the playoffs because of it.

Lets be honest, this response isn't due to the Houston game, it is due to all the games the nuggets lost (except Portland). There is no way the team is going to blowout every opponent in the playoffs. You can bet that every game will be close. The defensive strategy seems to be just as potent as the offensive strategy down the stretch- below par. Double teams have killed the Nuggets down the stretch, the rotations are late and easy shot fall as a result. Case and Point Budinger 16 points 2 key 3 pointers in the 4th. Kyle Lowry (Aka the second floppiest non Euro player) 2 key 3 pointers in the 4th finishing with 20. Even when we were close in the Portland game, the double team freed Batum to get loose on the edge and he in turn he destroyed us. The 1st Portland game arguably was Matthews best game, he was freed due to doubling Aldridge. Every team we lost to (except NOLA) had a closer. San Antonio has two, the Lakers have the one of the greatest, Portland has developed Aldridge into that role, the clippers have one (THE floppiest non Euro), Houston has its MIP candidate, Memphis will only get tougher to beat once Randolph returns. Its all good and great that Karl believes we do not need a closer but a strategy. The fact remains, every team that we will face in the playoffs will have a closer its time we find out who ours is, and if we don't have one, that is indeed troubling news. (It is also imperative that we sign Chandler now that Gallo is down, and no Chandler is not the closer we need, but he is an undeniable talent)

Actually I still think we will do well in the playoffs

I just think it will be a really rough month and this team will have to show some mettle with Gallo being out.

Gotta love the haterz. Keep that hate a comin'

I want Ty to step up and be the man

I think he can do it he just needs practice. I feel like he is the best passer and scorer on the team. Andre is good but Ty has a outside shot. I hope we can see Ty kick it out to Harrington, Gallo, Chandler and maybe AAA if he regains his form. 2 pg doesn’t work in the clutch imo, I can’t say why but its terrible every game. Maybe its cause teams can clog the paint. Karl puts out garbage lineups that’s part of their recent poor performance.

The closer thing is a myth propagated by media and

spread like shit by fans who arent really paying attention

This site has had postings on topic since last year. Issue is way more complicated than most of us think.

Essentially, great closers arent as great at closing as ESPN has trumpeted them to be, bad closers still close at a fairly good rate, it is better to just close by playing your normal game than by looking to THE man.

I’ll give you an example and I’m not picking on my whiipping post, Melo, its just that I recall plays because Melo was in the NY news so much.

I would guess that last year rabid Melo fans recall every split second of those amazing last second shots by melo, huh? I really dont excepting one in knick uni against the griz.

But I do recall Melo charging into Manu 2x in crunch times of different games. I laughed when a few Nug fans referred to plays as flops. No, they werent flops. Manu just schooled Melo.

Then I recalled Melo melting against Knicks in NY game, in crunch time, missed shots and offensive foul against Gallo.

You know what I think? Sometimes Melo hits closers or crunch time shots. Sometimes he misses ’em or turns ball over.

Know what that sounds like? Pretty much like most plays go in any quarter by most teams.

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
