Gallo has a chip fracture

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/07/nuggets-danilo-gallinari-out-with-chip-fracture-in-ankle/

Star-divide

A chip fracture, also known as an avulsion fracture, is when fragments of bone chip off the main bone because the ligament or tendon dethatched and pulled them off during the injury. Yes, it hurts. Treatment time depends on the size of the chip and other factors, they will know more after an CT scan on Tuesday, reports the Denver Post.

However, this is going to be in the ballpark of three weeks or a month, which is pretty common with this kind of injury.

This is incredibly bad news, and could lead to a continuation of the current 5 out of six skid. Sucks.

yes NN

I’ve been on this for a month. Will is not a star or great player, he is simply one of the players available that we need the most.

I compare him somewhat to Moz who is just an NBA baby as far as effectiveness/knowledge but he is as important to us as Gallo is.

About Will, we especially need his versatility. I have often noted that we are not as deep as we think we are and the injuries make us less deep and unfortunately suggest I was right, more right than I wanted to be.

what once looked like hopes to make it to the finals in this reduced season

has now got me wondering if we should go for the lottery in a deep draft!?

Only the Nuggets…

Only the Nuggets

While this would be an awesome draft to get into the lottery, I think the Nuggets will make the playoffs as a lower seed. While it’s not a perfect scenario, and barring any further major injuries (a big if this season), then Gallo should be full-strength by playoff time, as well as the rest of our roster. At the very least, this gives Gallo time to rest. Come playoff time, this team can still be scary. Of course, then we’re back to the whole George Karl in the playoffs debate.

well thats a nice positive take on situation

My fears are that present injuries, and those to come (how can you believe there wont be more?) may knock us out of even the 1st ten slots.

I dont see a scenario where we are over 500 after this month.

Frankly, there is no one to blame here. Injuries are a wild card that can crop up at anytime on any level and we’ve been dealt jokers since the trade.

I will root my tail off, my fingers will be crossed but all positive expectations will have to be put on the back burner.

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
