A coach can do that?

I was reading the results from the San Antonio game, yeah I sometimes like to punish myself and was surprised when I came across this line.

When the Nuggets pulled within 12 points with 6:42 remaining, Popovich quickly summoned Duncan back into the game.

So my question to all of you is this. Can a NBA coach really watch the game in progress, see what is going on, and put a player into the game who has been rested and can help change the flow of the game back into their teams favor?

Well, as painful as the game was to watch, I still see positives in the players we have and still have high hopes for the future. Go Nuggets and win again please.

Just for fun, I have added a poll to see if anyone here can tell me if this is reality or simply another one of those myths:
