Leave it to LeBron James, Ray Allen, and Chris Bosh to spoil Stiffs Night Out. Bosh's 40 points, James' final assist (11 total), and Allen's killer corner three doomed the Nuggets in Miami. Dwyane Wade might not play tonight, but he wasn't a huge factor in the first match-up - probably because Andre Iguodala was locked up on him most of the night - shooting just 5-12 and scoring 14 points on Nov. 3rd.
It was Bosh who kept Miami in the game and Allen who insured Denver would remain win-less, at the time as Denver fell to 0-3. But George Karl will tell you that if Denver was able to convert 8 total fast-break points (instead of just 6 total points on the break) that they would have won that game. Danilo Gallinai had a two-on-one fast break late and was unable to turn that possession into a bucket and the ball went out of bounds and Miami gained possession.
There was a lot of sloppy play in that high-scoring game and there was also a lot of good basketball played by both sides. For whatever reason, the Nuggets tend to play the Heat tough. Could it be that the young Denver players "get up" for big match-ups? You hear that all the time about young teams. They are excited to play the big boys and sleep on the ones they should win (vs. the Suns?).
Bosh has unconscious on Nov. 3rd hitting 15 out of his 22 shots and adding nine more points on 10 free throw attempts. Many folks here on Denver Stiffs want to see Bosh in a Nuggets uniform, but rising star Kenneth Faried holds down the four spot in Denver and needs to have a Manimal effort again tonight ... on both ends of the floor. Can the Nuggets centers handle Bosh tonight? Perhaps the more athletic JaVale McGee will get some big minutes tonight defending Bosh.
However Denver decides to play Bosh, they must not lose track of Allen. He shot 6-10 from downtown versus Denver in Miami and needs to be checked tonight. Just keep a body on him on the perimeter and don't stray away from him!
The Heat got their butts kicked in Los Angeles last night against the Clippers. Blake Griffin and Company didn't even need to play the last quarter. Miami also got their butts kicked in New York on Nov. 2nd, the night before they played the Nuggets. Eric Spoelstra will be happy the Nuggets are off the schedule after this evening.
Views You Can Use:
- Miami's three losses have come at the hands of the Knicks, Clippers, and Grizzlies. Those teams have combined to go 17-3 so far this season. One could argue they are the best teams in the league.
- Over the last three games Lawson has scored: 9 points, 9 points, and 12 points. But he has recorded the following assist numbers: 7 assists, 10 assists, and 8 assists.
- Faried and McGee combined for 38 points and 21 rebounds vs. the Heat in Miami. I'd love to see big production out of them again tonight.
