Report: Knicks offer Stoudemire for Howard

This is the second time that Stoudemire has been reported to be a piece in trade talks. There were earlier reports that he was offered to New Orleans for Chris Paul. It certainly appears that Stoudemire is available.

Star-divide

The Knicks have opened talks that would send Amare Stoudemire to Orlando in a swap to rent Dwight Howard, reports Donny Marshall — former NBA player and current CSNNE reporter — on NBC SportsTalk Thursday. In the video above the talk of the trade starts at the 3:30 mark.

There are a whole lot of questions around this one. Starting with, the Knicks are not one of the teams on Howard’s list where he said he would sign an extension (Nets, Lakers, Mavericks and Magic). If they get him, the Knicks would essentially risk just renting him because Howard could opt out at the end of the season and leave with the Knicks getting no compensation. Clearly, if they got him they think they could get him to change his mind and sign long term.

I don't think Orlando would do this

They need young talent, not a pirate.

Maybe Shumpert or Fields as well

D’Antoni is thinking about benching Fields for Shumpert for some reason.

Might as well totally deplete there roster.

Knicks have no clue. They think getting big (“bigger” names) will help solve their problems. Isiah 2.0….when they aren’t really addressing any of their issues (i.e. need a PG). Having said that, if they have both Howard and Chandler not too many people are going to dunk on the Knicks.

I feel bad for STAT.

He got to choose where he landed with free agency and now he has to take the backseat. they would have to include more than just STAT to get this done though.

This would work better for STAT

because he was operating much better when he was the man in NY.

that ALMOST happened

NY really needs to get their act together or run the risk of disappointing Spike Lee…

Trading Amare is like trading a bad contract

The Knicks would get out of his contract, and that trade would do them a favor.
I wouldn’t be happy getting STAT as an Orlando fan. NJ at least ha draft picks which would be worth more than STAT.
I think he ends up in LA, but to be honest, the way Bynum & Gasol are playing, I would rather have those 2 than Howard.

We have so many assets

I’m still surprised that Masai and Josh aren’t looking into it more…

Atheist for Tim Tebow!

They could be

That’s the thing. They run a real tight ship over there.

They don’t like leaks. The Melo deal with New Jersey was put on the kibosh at least twice last season because Josh and Masai got so pissed about the leaks. Notice there was very little news coming out of NY, who Denver eventually delt with.

Trust me: I have a sneaking sense that Denver is going to be a different team after the trade deadline or sometime before. Almost has me a little worried, as I like this team as it.

I think Wilson Chandler could go to Orlando for picks

As they will eventually rebuild once they trade Dwight.
If we could somehow attach Bird that would be good.
I trust Masai with whatever he does, the Poppovich of GMs, the man will take care of business. When everyone gave Nene a 10% chance of returning to Denver, Ujiri made it 100%.

I'm beginning to think he meant emotionally.

referring to Chauncey, and maybe even a little to AC. In that way, he wasn’t lying.

And screw up the chemistry of the NYK??

The Knicks are Melo’s team.. Bring in Howard would make it Howards team and what would they do with Chandler..make a PG out of him?.. Players to the Knicks are commodities.. they shipped Chauncey off very unceremoniously and now looking to trade Stoudemire? Maybe Melo end up in Toronto at this rate.

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
