THIS IS AMAZING!!! I think the Nuggets are finally hitting on all cylinders tonight. I think George Karl is enjoying being able to play two 7 footers at the same time! Ty Lawson and Andre Miller are playing well but I would have to say that once again the player to point to is Al Harrington. Whether it was MMA, or Hamburger weight lifting this offseason, whatever he did it worked because his game appears to be in top form.

Basketball was my love growing up. I taught myself percentages of fractions using my free throw percentage shooting hoops before dinner. I gave presentations on the NBA in first grade, memorized rosters, spent hours on super Nintendo Live 95, and even more hours with a nerf basketball in the basement. Basketball was my greatest passion.
I didn’t grow fast enough to be a great player, so my passion for playing waned in middle school, but I still watched the Nuggets. I played video games with Erick Washington in the starting lineup and watched 50 games the year they won 11. I listened on the radio past my bed time when Denver drafted McDyess. After driving to Wisconsin to see an uncle I hadn’t seen in a decade, I rushed through the hug to find a tv just in time to see Denver draft Tskita
After a few years of the Melo era, that long kept passion for watching the sport dissolved. The personalities were as distasteful as the one-on-one play. The more I watched, the less it was the sport I fell in love with.
I found a new outlet in the Rockies around 2005-06. That team transformed from also ran to world series participant in two years, and my second sport was my new number one. A few years later, I joined the staff of Purple Row, where I have been for three years. In that time, I more or less quit watching basketball, checking in to see the same first round exits.
The first game I watched in full in years was The first game after Melo was dealt. I watched 4-5 the rest of the season. I’ve watched six this season.
I’m hooked. Maybe I’m a bandwagon fan. Maybe I’m a choosy consumer. But basketball is damned fun again. George Karl is smiling more than he ever did. He is using four more men on his bench than he used to. Assists happen. There is running. And defense. And rebounds. If the Nuggets played like this during the Melo era, I would not be a writer at Purple Row. I doubt I’d be a writer here either, but I would certainly have my sports fandom firmly planted in blue and gold. I can’t wait to see what this team can do.

your sentiments are exactly why I ceased being a Knick fan when they got Carmelo.
And some of my friends say I made a “decision” to stop being a knick fan and become a Nugget fan.
Not true, I didnt decide to stop being a knick fan anymore than I decided not to like capers some years ago. The second my nephew told me about the trade I said, well I have to get NBA Tv package to watch the nuggets. I expected some good stuff but frankly this nugget team has been better, more exciting, more wonderful than even I could have imagined.

People enjoying watching melo put up over 30 points and losing to crappy teams…? I remember in 09-10 when nuggets had a better record against over .500 opponents, and thought if melo passed the ball and played a little more D, this team would have the best record in the league. oh well moving on.

They make excuses and have become a version of Jewish basketball fans – always waiting for a messiah.
One excuse that they make is that they are only missing a point guard. Maybe. But what does a point guard have to do with poor team defense? Why has the Denver defense gotten good while the Knicks is crappy?
Why is it that a fine rookie on the Knicks, Landry Fields, had a wonderful season until Carmelo came here and now he is as lost as a sheep on the moon?
NY Knick fans used to awfully sophisticated but are now.. well I’m tired of calling them names ..
I’m going to give you my take on Carmelo. He is an average player who completely dominates his team. So, if the team stinks, he will dominate it and raise it towards 500. If a team has talent, he will dominate it and suppress it towards 500
Thats why when I say the carmelo led nuggets last year I was impressed by AAA, nene, Ty and not so impressed by Melo. Has anything thats occurred after the trade suggest that my position was/is wrong?
Finally, there is a % of fans who never wanted the trade to go down and are extremely angry and despondent now. But few fans will just embrace another team as I’ve happily done
