Chandler's Chances

Taking a deeper look into whether or not we will see Wilson Chandler in powder blue next year,  I think its likely (as long as we dont change uniforms).  Im confident he will return and I could state reasons why we have better chances against any other team in the league but to avoid a huge post il keep to the important stuff.

 (Important stuff in bold)

Right now Chandler is making $2,130,481 and is set to become a restricted free agent with a Qualifying offer of $3,099,850.  Career stats (- rookie year) of 33mpg 15ppg 5.5rpg 2apg and around 1 block & steal. 24 next season
  • Factors -  (Wc wants, team needs, etc.)
  •

  • money - Plenty of teams would love the 24yr old multi talented Chandler on their teams but due to a large spend up last offseason not a lot of teams have enough cap space ( 8m + after resigning own FA).
Teams left -  Sac, Hou, Mil, Gsw,  Min, Ind, Njn, Den - [8/10 Denver]

  •

  • winning/ good team  -This favors Denver alot because most cap space teams are not playoff quality and even if they can offer slightly more money at the end of the day He has to want to go there.  With us able to match any offer you can rule out all MLE offers.
                                 Teams left -
Den, Hou, Mil, Njn                             - [9/10 Denver]

  •

  • Team needs - Even if they have space WC isn't the only FA out there so only teams needing an upgrade at SF remain
Teams left - Hou, Njn,                                            - [7/10 Denver]
  • possible threats only really include the Nets and Rockets but still only New Jersey can overpay.  Hou have to decide on resigning Chuck Hayes or Yao.  They may scrpae in at around 8 mil space but could offer WC a lot of minutes.  New Jersey will likely need to get rid of Outlaw, even then will be cautious with their space incase they can get Dwight Howard.  * New york could get around 8m but would be stupid going after WC with melo at SF.  They need a C but roster is screwed with Stat/ Melos contracts

*so in conclusion no team can really pry Chandler away from us so as long as the FO wants to keep him around we will be fine. 24/30 = 80 % chance Chandler returns to Denver next year probably at around 8m per year.  any offer sheet worth more than that would be from a team like the kings who WC wouldn't want to play for and would be both stupid for Sac to offer and Denver to match
