Look! Up in the Sky. It's a bird. Its.....

Question?

What Nugget player, in the playoffs is:

* shooting 34% from field

* 23% from 3

* 70% from line

* the most missed shots

* a plus/minus of -33 (pretty sure it leads team)

* an offensive rating of 96% (real bad)

* defensive rating of 116 (even worst)

* and still gets starter minutes -> most minutes played after Ty and Nene

If you're stuck, you're not paying attention

It's my new punching bag, drum roll....

Of course, its...

Ray Felton.

And you know, my issue is not even with RF because, well, he's playing minutes allowed to, playing how he has been given permission to, and he is playing his big heart out.

Hey no one blames me for not doing a tomahawk dunk.

But Felton's continuing to be featured is on Coach, pure and simple. I dont have a dog on the issue of GK but this obvious blindness towards our biggest present negative is just maddening.

GK's continuing to play RF constitutes serious coaching malpractice.

There are many reasons for us trailing the Thunder but there is one player who has been most responsible for our hole and that's Karl's fault.

For this blindness alone, George Karl should be fired.

They were just talking about that in last night's broadcast..

except they were talking about JR Smith instead of Raymond Felton, and how GK took him off the court because he was -17 in game 2. But what was funny was, that they showed a chart on the plus/minus of the Nuggets team so far in the playoffs, and Raymond Felton was the leader in minus at -34. The second worst was -20 by Kenyon Martin.

It’s just ridiculous that GK keeps playing Raymond Felton when he (along with Wilson Chandler) is jacking up terrible shots that never drop and are basically turnovers. But unlike Wilson Chandler, he doesn’t even play defense.

GK just hates JR Smith. I actually believe that the Nuggets are better off if they don’t play Felton at all, JR Smith is a much suitable backup PG against the Thunder who have a huge size advantage at the PG spot.

Felton has a very tough match-up in this series

OKC has very big, fast guards that present a problem for him. He can do well against some teams but OKC is not one of them.

by Pusherman on Apr 26, 2011 5:03 PM MDT reply actions

yep, he does have a tough match up so

dont take shots you cant make, make almost all of your foul shots and dont lead the team in negatives

Also, Felton is coming off the bench as Thunder stars are about to rest so why is his +/- so negative?

Yesterday 2 – 10. 2 – 10.

You’re right that the match-up might be bad. OK, so sit him down until match up is more favorable. ie next series. Thats coaching.

Who has a tougher match up than Gallo, usually up against KD.

Well, Gallo has been uneven but he hasnt been bad. Good 1st and 4th games. He’s 22, 1st time in playoffs, guarding THE best scorer in the NBA. Whats Ray’s excuse?

Thing is, when Gallo or Will are bad, they kind of melt into the background. You could still win with that. When Ray is bad he forces plays and puts Nugs in hole.

From all accounts, a 33 point hole.

I'm ok with Ray playing backup PG minutes

He shouldn’t be closing out games. Also the Al Harrington thing is ridiculous. We have to win in spite of Karl.
Why can’t we switch things up and play Moz over Harrington? That would be nice to see.
Andrew tell your buddy that the fans want a win, please unleash the Moz over Harrington.

Gotta love the haterz. Keep that hate a comin'

Moz is in street clothes.

I don’t think he is active for the series.

by Pusherman on Apr 27, 2011 8:46 AM MDT up reply actions

Hey JR, so with you

with BIg Al

Watched him in NY and we just knew that no matter how he many oints he got, the rest of the time he resembles a 10 year old playing full court for the first time. Completely lost.

Anyone else would be an improvement. Forbes has a little AAA in him. Give him some time. And sure Moz offers some nice positives, 7’1, 250, runs, jumps.

Agree with you re Ray. If he played as a backup and was told just “dont lose it” we’d be up 3 – 1

Come to think of it, why DID the Nugs sign Al, and now, why do they insist on letting Felton sabotage us. Both issues make me really pessimistic regarding Karl’s basic judgement about player evaluations.

Admittedly, while I like JR, with JR you can make reasonable arguments either way. But with Felton and Al, there are no real reasonable pro arguments.

ray's used to being a starter

He’ll get pissed if you cut his minutes

by TyLawesome on Apr 26, 2011 10:23 PM MDT reply actions

Then piss away Ray,

piss away

Look, we are not going to keep 2 point guards on our roster anyway. Someone has to make way.

This is Ty’s team. We’ll need to get a back up point guard, dependable, steady, comfortable with role and cheap.

Good luck to Ray wherever he goes.

*Starting point guards.

I hope we always have at least 2 point guards, but only one starter!

my point exactly

but no army needs two generals with General B always groaning about time and role and respect

If Ray was playing better than TY or was our future, then OK with Ray.

But TY has more upside. Esp. that blinding speed. Speed kills. And he’s younger and I think a better shooter.

Ray needs to be accommodated along with someone else and dont go saying Al because no other self respecting team wants Al .. uh,wait… I have an idea, do the Knicks need Ray back and maybe Big Al for, lets see, more future draft picks and, maybe Landry Fields. I’m not kidding.

Fields played very well with the ex Knicks and has stunk since the trade.

Tell Dolan that they cant KEEP Carmelo without making trade. We are dealing with Dolan. Who knows?

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
