Superstar

During the offseason I believe the nuggets should go after Deron Williams. Its obvious that he does not want to resign with the nets. If the nuggets can acquire Deron i believe the nuggets will become a very tough team to beat. Deron will make everyone on this team better and we will have the go to player we need. Or if anyone has any better ideas i would love to hear them

P.S i am new to this so go easy on me

Probably not going to happen

Trading for Deron would be a mistake depending on the new CBA because the team would more than likely lose him when his contract ends. The Nets are probably banking on Dwight singing with them and I doubt Prok would trade for him without a plan to keep him or shop him so Deron just isn’t a very available player.

He would definitely improve the team but there are other holes that take priority when restructuring the team since the Nuggets already have Ty. Bringing in an allstar point guard would definitely hinder his development and I think he’s going to be an allstar himself soon.

how about this trade?

Rockets get: birdman, big al& nene in sign-n-trade.

Nuggets get: jordan hill, courtney lee,t-will,thabeet, blakely&cousins.(11.6 mill), after new cba, Lee&blakely would b ufa’s. This trade would provide us w our 2nd string front line

I don't see it happening,

and it would be hard to see that dude in a Nuggs jersey at first, but I’d get over it faster than if whiny, floppy CPwaaaaahhhhhhh were to suit up for us. And yes we would be an awesome team.

i think steve nash is more likely

i’d like to see a nash for felton swap. nash/lawson would be a killer pg combo. as long as they’re not on the floor together.

Williams would improve this team no doubt

On the other hand, I don’t think the Nets would give him up or that Williams would want to sign here. I think the Nuggets best shot at another superstar is through the draft. Problem is, our team is good enough not to be in the lottery. Free agent superstars tend to go for the glamorous cities, or for teams that have a chance at an immediate championship. As much as I love Denver and the Nuggets, we just don’t have the clout as both a city and an NBA team. Football, Hockey, & Baseball players seem to like Denver okay though. Not sure why this is the case, maybe Denver just isn’t a basketball city. I dunno

I would like to see Rudy Gay on the nuggets, we can move Felton and a pick for Gay!

how is it obvious?

Im curious as to why you say this.

by GottaLoveMelo on Apr 25, 2011 8:41 AM MDT reply actions

Dude what is wrong with you?

No need to move Nene or Bird. They are 2 of our best 5 players. That would be so ridiculously stupid unless we are searching for the lottery.

No way.

We have a great team, and with a few minor moves will improve greatly next year. And yes, I want Karl gone, but how realistic is that? I want to package Felton and Harrington together for a taller backup PG that is ok with being a reserve, and maybe move Chandler, but I’m still not sure on this. He has sucked in the playoffs but he was great in the regular season.

taller backup PG-

Shaun Livingston? effective in small doses and with lawson playing 36 mpg that’s all we’d need him for. on the cheap too. then you could package felton and harrington for something better.

by NugNugz on Apr 27, 2011 10:32 AM MDT up reply actions

I'd be ok with that.

really? Birdman one of our best 5 players?

first if you really think that’s true, we need to have a discussion.

second, if you have a team where birdman is one of your best 5 players, you need to re-think the player make-up of that team.

by NugNugz on Apr 27, 2011 10:30 AM MDT up reply actions

5 most important players then.

And yes, he is better than Ely, Fat Al, Felton, Kouf, Moz, Forbes, Chandler, Gallo (He won’t always be, just is right now)
Not better than: Nene, Ty, AAA, Kenyon, JR, but almost as effective as the last two. I’m going on energy, effectiveness and rebounding and shot-blocking hustle to award these points for him.

he barely plays...

Felton was a borderline all star in the east. birdman would never be anything but a roll player. i love him but be realistic. Chandler and Gallo are both much better than Birdman.

why not target Rudy Gay

The Grizzlies’ success with him in street clothes might make him expendable. Perhaps they will look to trade him in return for a deeper bench. Doing a sign and trade for both Chandler and JR Smith, and filler or a draft pick might net us a go to guy.

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
