So, the Big Al contract is bad, but not unbearable.

2011/12

Priorities: Play basketball, sign Nene, sign AAA, let someone overpay for Ill Wil, possibly resign either JR or Wil

Nene gets $10 mil a year average for 3 years, AAA gets $7 per year.

Players under contract: Ray, Nene, AAA, Bird, Al, Gallo, Moz, Ty, Koufos

Total committed salary: $37 million

Cap room (assuming $60 million cap): $23 million (W/O JR or Wil). Minimum guy, our 1st rounder, money to work with

2012/2013

Priorities: Resign Gallo

Players under contract: Al, Bird, Nene, Gallo (RFA), Moz, AAA, Ty (team option), Koufos (RFA), 1st rounder, whatever we did with the cap space in 2012

Total committed salary: $31 million plus whatever moves we made in 2011/12

2013/2014

Priorities: Resign Ty and maybe Moz

Players under contract: Nene, Al, Bird, Gallo, AAA, Ty, Moz

Total committed salary: $39 million (assuming Gallo is at $10 mil a year)

Obviously, much is left up for debate and changes will be happening. But, hey! We have options in the future and can control our young talent and cap space.  I mean it could be worse, we could be the Knicks!
